Hiya everyone!

I'm pretty new on here, and have only had Formula D for a couple of days, but I've had plans in my head for a long time, and thought I'd like to liven things up a bit, as it's seeming a bit dead...

I'm going to be doing a 10-car 1994 Formula One Championship, BUT, as most people may do, I only have Monaco, so either most of it or ALL of it will consist of races on that track. I will be controlling all the cars myself, but with no favouritism, and will try to do the best job possible with each car. Each race will consist of 3 laps.

I'm going to have 5 teams of 2 cars, painted like the cars of the 1994 Formula One World Championship, in rememberance of Ayrton Senna. His car is to be included.

The cars involved will be the Williams FW16B, Benetton B194, McLaren MP4/9, Ferrari F412T and the Jordan 194. I will post pictures when the cars are painted.

I'll be posting updates on here as I'm sure most of you will like to see, and will update with results when I can.

Any feedback or ideas are welcome.

There are plenty of tracks available on the BGG pages for Formula Dé and Formula D to be downloaded & printed, you don't have to be stuck with one track.

I would take a look at this geeklist of fan made FD tracks, were I you.

Racing the same track over and over again gets old quickly, and on the list you will find 41 downloadable tracks for FD, many of which are F1 tracks.

While I am not overly interested in the results, your comments on the tracks would be interesting to read, and pictures (!!) would be good to see, especially of your cars - have fun racing

Cheers for the advice guys!

I won't be able to print anything out though, that's my trouble... so I'll probably just buy some expansions or something. I'll figure it out, look at what you've provided me with, and update from there

As for the cars, I finished them last night, and they don't look too bad... the Ferraris are numbers 9 and 10 instead of 27 and 28, just so it was easier to paint, and the Jordans were re-numbered 11 and 12 ...

Cheers though guys, will post pictures when possible. I'm writing this in work! laugh

Oh, and stupid question ... I'm not aware of any size differences or anything ... would any old Formula De tracks work with Formula D cars ... ?

Yes they used the same size for Formula Dé and Formula D.

If you are lucky you might find a cheap track on eBay or similar sites. They often are very expensive, though. soblue

Thanks for the reply Niko

True, they are expensive, but I've just bought the Hockenheim & Valencia expansion, seeing as it's the only that consists of TWO Formula One tracks, without any stupid single-lane nonsense (I really don't like the street racing!)...

£27.39 with postage, which isn't bad, but I only paid £35.00 for the original game...

Better than having just one track though

Hiya guys! Back again after some time away from the boards.

Been a little busy recently starting a new job, so not been up to much.

A little update:
I've been a little busy painting all my street-racing cars for Formula D, in famous and popular racing colour schemes, such as the Vauxhall 888 Racing touring car liveries from 1998 - 2002. I've also given in to temptation and bought the Sebring & Chicago expansion, which arrived three days ago. I wasn't too keen, looking at the Chicago track, but ignoring special rules, it looks like it could provide some interesting Formula One races ... still not sure though.

Some Sessions:
I know this little bit may be considered "in the wrong bit of the forums", but this whole thing is in general so NERR

I've had a couple of races recently with my family, who have become captivated by Formula D, to my amusement! We now play with my step-dad, mother, brother, and girlfriend, so there's 5 players with two cars each. My mother has now grown liable to stopping one square before a corner, in a high gear! laugh Although at the other end of the scale, it's my step-dad that seems to be the guy to beat!

1994 Formula One Championship:
Yes, we FINALLY started the 1994 Championship that I've been waiting to do for AGES! (I told ya' I would!)

To be honest, the first race was a shambles for me, and my girlfriend. I'll be doing a full report, with the sole picture I got of the race, another time, but for now - a quick sum-up;

The teams would be as follows:

Me: Jordans
My Girlfriend: Williams
My Mother: Ferraris
My Step-Dad: Bennettons
My Brother: McLarens

We raced on the Hockenheim Circuit, and I would call it a challenging track, where others call it easy. Some of the two-stop corners provide a good bit of thought, as they're quite short, and the last section of the track, that's flooded with corners, really mixes up the field.

For the first half of the lap, my Jordan of DeCesaris, and my step-dad's Bennetton of Schumacher, raced away from the field, who stayed together, and all bunched up. The race pretty much stayed this way until the end of the lap, where I mis-judged a corner terribly, applying 8 damage, and writing off DeCesaris' race, whilst leading!! This left my step-dad to pick up the spoils and take the victory. Meanwhile, the rest of the field had all shot themselves in the foot, with four cars (TWO of which, being my girlfriend's Williams!) crashing out of the race in one turn!! This helped me recover my race with my remaining Jordan of Barrichello, to finish 2nd.

Our points system will be:
1st - 10
2nd - 6
3rd - 4
4th - 2
5th - 1

So you have to put in a good effort to get in the top 5, for points. Like I also said, I'll do a full report on this race with the one picture I have, another time.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, and if you have any questions, just shout! Thanks again, and good gaming!

Impressive that you do a report!

My only suggestion is to include as many pictures as you can.
The more, the better - although 200 might be overdoing it...

Examples (Races on Estoril):
Report without pictures: http://www.formulade.dk/index.php?page=raceid&rid=62
Report with pictures: http://www.formulade.dk/index.php?page=raceid&rid=102

Although both are in Danish, it should not be too hard to spot the difference and decide which one you'd rather read.

Re: Custom 1994 Formula One World Championship
Thank you Niels!

I completely agree with you - the only reason I do not have many pictures is that I only use my phone, and it managed to run out of battery without me noticing until afterwards, and I did not think at the time about my report's benefit with pictures.

We're doing the second round of the Championship tonight though - the Spanish Grand Prix, at Valencia! Quite excited for this one, as I played this track with friends for a laugh and it turned out great!!

I'll get more pictures this time, and post a report soon, along with the Hockenheim race! laugh
