I own two core sets that I bought on the day of release here in Sweden, having followed the game closely for the last six months or so. A friend from the local gaming club that I am a member of also bought two sets and we decided to sit down and play a few games yesterday.
We each preconstructed a couple of decks, but there wasn't a lot of thought going into the design of these (I played monofaction decks with all seven objectives, doubles of two of them, and one neutral limited objective). We only had time to play four games and ended up playing rebel alliance vs sith in all four although we changed sides after two games (and decks since we each played our own decks, so they weren't identical).
The Light Side won all four games, but the last two were close with the win hanging on a single turn (the DS would have won next turn).

Our observations from these (few) games were that the Sith faction, on its own, seem to struggle a little bit with resources. In all four games, with two different sith decks and two different players, we always had a hard time getting key cards into play because of high cost and not enough resources on objectives, enhancements and characters etc. It wasn't crippling and since the sith still came close it seems to be a matter of fine-tuning the decks a little bit - all games were competitive but it was still something we both remarked upon. Something that really improved the play for the DS was to go a little bit on the offense - the two first games that weren't as close my friend played the DS strictly defensively, while I then tried to mix it up in my DS games and keep the LS on their toes a bit, which seemed to help.

Regarding the ongoing discussion on the thematics of the game, I must say that we never really thought much about it during play. I remember noticing that yes, a starfighter was indeed battling it out with an interrogation droid, but it was never something that took us out of the theme. And the keywords on the cards do a lot to prevent really crazy stuff (you can't force choke a starship etc).

Anyway, we had a good time and are looking forward to playing more and trying to introduce more people around us to the game. Will be interesting to see where it goes from here!

Glad to see you enjoyed the game! I do think your issues with Sith would probably be solved with a bit of deck building. I didn't really seem to have resource issues even with the recommended preconstructed deck.

I will admit that Rebel Alliance has seemed pretty powerful in my games so far, I haven't seen to lose very many times.

Re: First few games
Had the Sith beat the Jedi in the first game. I failed to get the Emperor on to the table and ended up using him in a key edge battle. Add to that the fact that Yoda was rampaging across my objectives. Yoda is pretty good with a couple of enhancements and I thought my goose was seasonally cooked. However, a liberal dose of Darth Vader did the trick and I won with a DS objective to spare.
