I received an Abomination-level Kickstarted version of this game for my birthday and Christmas, and we've played through most of the missions in the base book. On its surface, like a lot of Zombie TV, movies and books, it seems like a pretty shallow & straightforward game - kill zombies. Dig a little deeper and the name of the game clues you in ...

Kill lots of friggin' zombies. And then kill some more.

Beneath that level, there's a non-zero amount of strategizing the survivors must deal with lest they be eaten by the oncoming horde. Some decisions are rather mundane (can I search before I move and attack, or do I need the extra attack), while some have long-term consequences (do we open the door to the second building now or secure the first?). The missions and randomized zombie spawning keep the game fresh, and never feels like a Type-A personality can just take over all the (human-played) survivors and squeeze out other people as can be the case with other co-op games.

I really enjoy this game, it has quickly moved to at/near the top of my (admittedly small) game library.

Good
----
1) The figs. Very well done, great detail.
2) The game. Rules keep the game fast-paced. The scenarios are generally pretty intense for the survivors, we rarely escape unscathed.
3) Fun. Fun. Fun. There's no part of the game I don't enjoy, and that includes returning the figs to the box at the end.

Inconvenient
------------
1) Small cards. Gah!
2) (A consequence of #1) The sewer icon on the zombie cards is easily overlooked.

All in all, I give this game a very high recommendation. Enjoy with a frosty beverage, and enjoy the time you'll have slaughtering zombies on your way to the exit.

PS: Having 'Machete' (in-game El Cholo) as a promo fig is pure awesome. Especially because he starts with dual machetes. Long live Danny Trejo.

I don't mind the small cards. The dashboard would be far too big if the cards were a standard size.

We use dice to count levels... easier than moving the slider all the time...Conceptially a neat idea!
