Thanks for the mention! I still stand behind the value of competitive party games, but I certainly see the point that everyone involved should be comfortable with competition at hand.

We are covering trivia games on our next episode, and will be giving Bezzerwizzer a try. From what I have read, it seems to be a trivia players party game, whereas I have always seen Wits & Wagers
as a party gamers trivia game.

We will see in our next episode. Thanks again for talking about party games.

I see your point about competition, with the right group it can probably add a lot to a party. I guess that's why strip poker is such a mythic game while just getting naked... Wait a sec, what was I going on about?

Yeah, competition could certainly be more discussed in a hobby where the primary activity is determining the winner.

I also personally come from a background of being a huge game show fan (I even proposed to my wife at The Price is Right). To me party games (specifically the competitive ones) remind me of the great game shows. That might be part of my bias.

I've just started playing Words With Friends. I really suck at it, and I'm not having a lot of fun with it. Even though I like some word games like Letter Rolland Word on the Street, I find other games like WordARound frustrating an much less fun. I'm beginning to suspect it's more of a preference and less of a quality issue.

WordARound sounded frustrating from the example you gave on the show.

It was a bit. However a couple guys from the local group went out and bought it right away.

We are doing word games, and games that use words on Episode #8 of our show. And the games are Word on the Street and Funglish, and I think what I like about them, is that are not really word games in the classic sense. I have never been a huge fan of games like Scrabble or Upwords. I do however want to try BuyWord but mostly because I am a Sid Sackson fan.

I've never played anything scrabble like until I was recently conned into playing Words With Friends. I suck at that game. Hard. Other word game I recommend at least mentioning Faux•Cabulary which I dislike, Letter Roll, and Bananagrams. My Word! and... maybe we need to do a word game episode for On Board Games as well, there is a lot to cover here.

Though now that I think about it, Giles and I may already have recorded a word game episode for Games in Schools and Libraries.

We expect we will do be doing a few, this is just our first. The same with topics like Trivia games which we are covering on this weeks episode.

I will ask, is this libraries and schools podcast worth listening to as just John Q. Geek? Either way I will give it a listen, but I thought I would at least ask first.

Great question. I doubt it, though it might be of interest to places that want to encourage gaming for all ages.
