Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
My wife got it after seeing a 'salt AND butter' comment in the Tanga thread; we backsolved it afterwards.

Leadfoot: Shouldn't that say March 1st?
Anyway, if anyone needs help identifying names in the 3/1 puzzle, just ask here (since the names are not the final solve)

To quote randomcyn over in the blog:
Quote:
A little salt for those who have the clue and are stuck... you've identified the people, now try just looking at them.
The final solve has nothing to do with their names or their fame.

I thought maybe it was
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
1/0 based on gender and then convert to letters based on ASCII, but you need 8 for that and there are only 20 total, so that can't work.
Edit: Except that the first three are the same all the way down the line. D'oh!

Don't make this too complicated, a simple tanga substitution will do. No knowledge of computer standards required.

You know what's sad? I had the secret clue about 30 seconds after I saw the puzzle. That was over 40 minutes ago and I've had no further revelations.

My thought was
Spoiler (mouseover to reveal):
To convert the pictures into binary form
00010
01111
11001
10011
but the second row gives me too high of a number to be a straight alphabet cypher.
Thanks, that gave it to me! Your second row is not too high.
