I have created a new expansion for Puerto Rico entitled Haiti.

It contains two new roles, three buildings, one "plantation" and zombies!

I suggest using the zombies from the game of the same name.

While I've uploaded it to the files and links sections here, you can get it at:

I'm always interested in feedback. Thanks!

I just had a couple of questions before I tried out this variant.

In the rules you have "Players who have fewer colonists available than required must place all their available colonists in the Graveyard."

Did you mean "Players who have more colonists available than required must place all their extra colonists in the Graveyard?"

Also, I just wanted to verify that this variant required three swamps, two guard shacks, two mausoleums, and one crossroads, but not more than that.

Also, How many zombies would you recomend for a game? As many zombies as their are colonists?

The game looks really nice, and may provide an interesting twist! Thanks.

I'll try to explain by example, let's say you are required to place 4 colonists in the graveyard (because someone has targeted you and you're the Governor), but you only have 3 colonists. You would only place those 3 in the graveyard and not worry about the net loss of 1. If you had, say, 7 colonists, you would place 4 in the graveyard, but 3 would remain alive.

correct.

We never counted. All those plays and we never thought to count. You certainly won't need more zombies than colonists, so that is probably a good estimate. I would estimate about half the amount you get in the game Zombies for a 4 or 5 player game.

Thank you. Please let me know how it turns out for you. We enjoyed it. It made the game a tad slower, but not significantly, (and we never got past the "ooh cool, zombies" phase, so the zombie honeymoon may not have worn off for us yet).

Hi Mike,

I really like your variant, I have a question though: Is it possible to play Haiti with less than 5 players ?

Thanks,

Fred

Sure. It could be played with 3-5.
