The On Board Games Round Table

Not all games are worth the time it takes to play them, at least not to all people.

Scott, Erik, and Donald discuss the differences between victory conditions and victory points.

Stoplight Reviews

Erik reviews Ca$h 'n Gun$
Donald reviews Jolly Roger
Scott and Donald have an in depth discussion about Quest for the Dragon Lords.

Once again I'd like to thank Scott Nicholson and Erik Dewey for joining me in this episode.
Check http://www.onboardgames.net/ for links to the feed and show notes.

Let us know what you think of the games we review, and what your preferences are - victory points, objectives, or something else entirely.

Also, I'd like to start an On Board Games BGG guild, if you have an interest let us know.

I like games where money equals victory points. My friends and I are boardgame newbies and only play light games. "The winner is the one with the most money" is something that we all can identify with easily. It is especially difficult to get my husband to play a new game. If the game is based on building wealth, he is halfway there as far as understanding the rules so he's more likely to give it a try.

I also like the tangible nature of money as victory points. Any game where the victory is measurable in a context that makes sense is more likely to appeal to me. I think that's why Shark appealed to me even though it is not really a good map of the stock market, you know what you are getting or loosing when events unfold.

Thanks for listening to the podcast!
