is there any possible case of infantry fire alone causing a formation hit on the target unit? if i read the tables correctly, only successful artillery fire does. infantry fire should always cause casualty hits anyway, shouldn't it?
Musketry does not inflict formation hits, however there are battalions with integrated artillery, and they can inflict formation hits as the effect of the artillery is rolled into a single roll.
