Pass the King's hat version
Taking a tip from Chad Ellis in his review, I used six checkers of each color for this game. Five take the place of the wooden blocks and the others are "passing the hat checkers" (in lieu of metal balls). On a passing turn, the hat of your "king" is removed and passed along from one eligible receiving checker to another until a new king is crowned. The previous crowned checker and any checkers that passed the hat are flipped over to show their "star" side. The "star" denotes ineligible receivers. If and when a "star" checker is moved, it is flipped over again when placed at new location to show that it is again an eligible receiver. If you are first to crown a new king in your opponent's base row, you win game. The set-up of the checker board and tournament rules of play are not changed for this version of Razzle Dazzle.
