I wanted to same a dice game to entice none gamers, and look for a good gift game.

here are my thoughts

Pickomino very simple dice game though the written English rules make it hard work to understand, play on line or download someone else’s rules here to get a good gist of the game.

aim of game gather worms.
you gather worms by rolling the correct number with up to 8 dice.
you can some times try to steal your opponents worms.
if you fail to role an appropriate number you lose a worm you may already have, and the highest worm in the game is then out of play.

the game pretty much plays itself there are very few decisions to make and minor one when they do arise.

the best decision is when you try and steal a worm from another player, basically your just hoping you role the correct number on the dice. You might need to check what numbers you have frozen to see if you can make up the number of your opponents worm.

there’s little push your luck compared to other similar games.
its not so much push you luck as luck is handed to you on a platter deal with it. there is no option to pass. just keep rolling till you win one or fail, if you had a good 1st role with lots of dice left, you might risk one other role to try and get the worm token up.

the other decisions are:-

1)you rolled 8 dice, do you keep 1-2 high numbers or keep a lower number and hope you roll more high numbers next time with the fewer dice.

2)same do you keep 1 worm or keep rolling with few dice but hope you roll more worms next time! or get at least one worm!

its very much luck. you can not influence the dice to make your role any better or worse.

towards the end of the game as worm tiles become thinner on the ground or the low numbers have gone, more anti luck kicks in maybe its a stop a runner way leader mechanic? but you lose one of your tiles if you fail to role a number of a worm on the table or higher.

if just felt very luck driven, flip a coin see who wins.. i think the stealing off opponents would make it more fun but you need more players.
but then that introduces down time..

Pros
Portable
Durable
Simple

Cons
To Simple
Luck Driven
Stupid Theme

I’d recommend Players 3-5 only

if I was going to suggest a change.. Maybe it would say you could skip you go at trying to get a worm and then play your top worm one back in your pile.

that way you miss the opportunity to get a new worm but at the same time you bringing a lower number worm in to play that an opponent has an easier time stealing, and your lessening the risk of your own bad role at losing your top worm maybe..

After reading your review, that is really calling the kettle black, I think.
