CotE Classic Rules Questions
Hi - I would be grateful for clarification of the following rule questions;

1. I'm based in Spain, and am doing rather well. I have roads from Baetica (Southern Spain) to Germania, and from Tingitana (NW Africa) to Nimidia (N Africa). Now, to move a cavalry (with General) from Germania takes 1 move to Baetica along the road, 1 to cross the straight, and 1 to move along the road from Tingitana to Nimidia (would need completing over two 'turns' because of movement limits). Is this correct?

2. Following the above, could an enemy Galley in the straight between Baetica and Tingitana block this move?

3. When Galleys battle, if the fight isn't completed after three rounds, what happens? Does the 'attacking' Galley remain in place?

4. In our three player game, one player has run out of control markers. Can he continue to take territory AND gain tribute from it?

5. If I destroy a city in the middle of three of my built cities (to halt enemy progress) do the roads come off the board as they no longer link adjacent cities?

6. Isn't it pointless to build a road between only two adjacent cities? Obviously if the road is longer, there is a benefit to be had, but when the road links one province to the next, the movement cost is one regardless.

7. I've lost my home city, but my leader is still alive. Can I buy troops? Where do I put them? Or is it time to yell 'Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!'?

1. Yes, 3 movement points.

2. Yes, enemy Galleys block the use of straits,
unless you take your Legion on-board your own ships
and move them via sea movement.

3. Nothing more happens. All units remain in place.

4. Control markers are not meant to be a limiting factor.
Use another color marker.

5. No, your roads remain on the board as long as they
connect 2 cities.

6. Yes, although you have to start your road network somewhere!
I don't usually build a road until I can build several links.

7. If a player does not control his home PROVINCE, he cannot build
new units. He may continue to collect tribute, for that day
when he re-captures it!
