Zooloretto: additional buildings: my view

Preamble.
The five small expansions for Zooloretto are available in one pack. I’ve reviewed each separately under their respective entries on the ‘geek. I bought them at the same time as the base game and would recommend them. The three extra buildings expansion is useful for adding an occasional bit of variety to the game.

Components
This part of the expansion pack consists of four additional buildings. There are 2 pavilions, 1 souvenir shop, and a double sized restaurant tile. The build quality and illustration style are very nice, and match the main game.

Gameplay
The additional tiles are placed FACE UP in the middle of the table. A player can buy the restaurant for 3 coins using a money action. It can be placed on two adjacent vending stall spaces, and once placed it cannot be moved. At the end of the game, the player with the restaurant scores 2 victory points for EACH vending stall rather than 2 for EACH TYPE of stall. The restaurant also scores 2 points.

The souvenir shop must be taken by the player that produces the first baby animal. At the end of the game, if the souvenir shop has been placed in an enclosure stall space, that player scores 1 victory point for each baby animal in his/her entire zoo.

A player can use a money action to buy a pavilion tile for 3 coins using a money action. A pavilion is placed on an animal space within an enclosure rather than on a vending stall space, thus reducing the number of animals needed for fill that enclosure by one. A pavilion cannot be moved once placed.

So What Do I Think?
I don’t think this expansion is essential. It comes into the category of a nice occasional addition when you’ve played the base game enough times that you want to add a bit of variety. I prefer it to the building site and additional enclosure expansion, and therefore give it a very creditable 7 out of 10.
