Sandra Oh Reviews Cities and Knights of Catan
You may have seen the Sandra Oh interview in Jimmy Kimmel where she discusses Cities and Knights of Catan (although she gets the name wrong). It occurred to me that she essentially reviewed the game. Since, as far as I know, Sandra Oh does not have a BGG account, I have transcribed the "review" part of the interview here.

First, here is the video; the review starts about 5 minutes in:

Now the transcription (I took out Jimmy Kimmel's comments):

"Recently, like, ah, there's this great game that was such a heartbreak for us. We were obsessed, it was this love affair, me and my Canadian friends, we were obsessed with this game called Settlers of Catan. (Referring to the studio audience: ) No one here played it. It's a board game. It's a terrible love story. We were obsessed with it. Obsessively we played it all the time. And then we went away, and I brought it with me, and I brought it to Spain. with my other Canadian friends who live in Spain. Played it all the time.

"And then in Paris, we walked into this game shop, and there were all these elaborate versions, like these extended remixes of the game in French, and it was like, "we've got to go back and find these new additions to the game." So we came back and we saw this, we found this addition, it was called Knights and Barbarians or Ships and Monsters or whatever.

"We're going to play this game. But, this is how I liken the story. When you have a lover, and you're having a good time but then things are kind of waning and you want to spice it up. so you decide to say 'Hey, let's throw in a new person. Throw in a new person.' So then, that's the addition, That's the Knights and Barbarians addition.

"So we played this game, and it went on for five and a half hours. and it was horrible. It was horrible. As we were playing it, it's like the love that we had this game was just dissipating. It was like, 'This is a horrible game! It won't end! It won't end!'"

She is an actress/game reviewer.

Hi,

Just wanted to point out that she is talking about Knights&Barbarians which is a different extension than Cities&Knights.

There is no "Knights & Barbarians" expansion, so she must mean either "Cities & Knights" or "Traders & Barbarians". Traders & Barbarians came out after this interview aired, so it isn't that. In addition, "Cities & Knights" includes barbarians in the game, so calling it "Knights & Barbarians" is an understandable mistake.

To sum it up, I think we can be pretty sure that she was talking about the "Cities & Knights" expansion.

Yikes! I hope to be learning Cities and Knights on Friday. I have enjoyed Settlers a great deal. I hope I am one of the lucky few that enjoy C&K.
