Do you remember those electric race cars from when you were a kid? You'd set up the track, carefully checking to make sure the pieces were connected right. Then you'd clean the bottom of your car to guarantee you'd get full power and speed. You'd set your car on the track next to your older brother's car. You'd both count to three and he'd speed off while you'd end up flipping your car on the first turn.

Now, take that image, subtract the electricity and fancy cars and you have Pitchcar Mini. Pitchcar Mini is a fantastic little game for 2 to 8 players. The components are great: sturdy wooden pieces which connect to make any one of a number of different tracks and two wooden disks with car stickers for each player.

After you set up the track and decide on a number of laps, the game is very quick and fun. Players take turns flicking their cars with their fingers. It's not always easy: if you flick too softly you'll never win, but hit it too hard and you'll flip your car on the first turn (just like when you were a kid). We prefer to play where you can knock other players' cars off the track, but you can also play it nicely as well.

It's tons of fun to send your car shooting down the track to win by a nose or laugh as your opponent's car crashes and burns (especially considering that it will probably happen to you the next turn).

Pitchcar Mini is quick and easy to play. Just set it up and I guarantee you'll have people come over just to watch before begging to jump in the next game. It's easy enough for kids to play and often they'll win despite your best efforts!
