Munchkin Cthulhu 3: The Unspeakable Vaults adds 56 cards to the Lovecraftian Munchkin game. Nothing remarkable was added to the game (like madness cards in MC2), but the artwork by Goomi (
http://www.macguff.fr/goomi/unspeakable/) breathes new life into the game. There is nothing wrong with John Kovalic's illustrations, but the after umpteen Munchkin games, they have gotten a little stale. Goomi's illustrations (some taken directly from his comic strip) are well worth the cost of the mini-expansion.
But what about the game play? First the Goth rule from the original MC is thinned out even more, since there are no monsters that end in goth in this set (there was only one in MC2). To make up for that, there are several cards like Nightgaunts which allow anyone who has Nightie-Gaunts (from MC) to join the fight. A house rule to expand the Goth rule to include all monsters that end in oth instead, would make the Goth rule more fun.
Other than this there is nothing terrible new in MC3. There are a couple of cards that require a die rule to see if they work, and there are two permanent mutations.
Still the fun factor is quite good. Feed Friends to Cthulhoo, Yum Yum, and Crunchy Cultists are all good for a laugh, but I think the main reason I'll keep it in my deck is the artwork.
