I Am NOT a Communist » Forums » Reviews
What the cards are for?
I got a "I am not a comunist" copy from a bundle of "gameaddicts" games I bought a couple of months ago. The title was very suggesting, especially if you like ideologic issues. But this card game was totally disappointed.

First I would like to remark that what is disappointed are the cards no the mechanism. But let me try to explain a little more.

This game has 52 cards, 1 with the "original comunist" words, 1 with the "Special investigator" words and the rest with the name of each one of the 50 states of EEUU in order to represent one senator from each one. These cards come with phrases but they are totally useless to the game. Besides, in each cards you see a caricature of who supposed to be the senator of the respective state, it depicted the corruption, the laziness or stupidness of the senator, funny, interesting even educational but no relation with the fact you are in game about comunism or anti comunism.

In fact, to play this game the cards are no required, you just need to know the rules and write in a piece of paper the name of each one of the states as well as 2 additional ones with the words "Original comunist" and "special investigator" respectively to distribute them among the players

The rest of the game is not so bad. The game is a "rol" game. The main idea is to give one card to each player, 8 minimal, (must include the two different cards) and, assuming that rol, with a close / open eyes mechanism the comunist (in the first turn, then the last persona converted to comunism) and the investigator select players to convert in and out from comunist. The investigator is the only one revealed to the rest of the player. A moderator is required

Inmediately, the players debate who is the comunist and vote (Everybody must conceal his/her rol). The most voted player is censored. Was the comunist elected, he lost the game. If the censored one is another player, he/she stop voting. The comunist wins if 50% of the voters are comunist in any election.

In short, the cards are useful just to assign rols. The mechanics seems to be a little interesting but in my opinion I would rather Lynch Mob or Looney Bin from the same producer.
