The Feynman Rescue
Orbit 15
"Private Eastwood!"

SGT. Hernandez gave the order. "Someone wake up Eastwood! Bresinski, Eastwood, Lichter, Kyoshi! Let's go Delta, time is wasting. You're lead off hitter tonight."

I'll be going in second right behind Bres like always.

Orbit 14
Bresinski is first through the airlock into the Feynman. I follow, tap her shoulder and move to the left. Lichter and Kyoshi are next and move to Bres' right.

Feynman's main corridor is empty. We never get a diplomatic welcoming party.

We move through the port shuttle airlock into the transport shuttle airlock. We need the transport shuttle to secure alternate means of evac. There could be as many as 15 crew that need to get off this falling death trap.

Echo and Foxtrot teams secure the corridor and move to the command pod to get the crew list.

Orbit 13
Bresinski goes into the transport shuttle first. I'm right on her, not much room in here to swing the RPP-7 plasma gun. Lichter moves past us both towards the front end of the shuttle.

Empty again, shuttle secure. Bres said she heard something moving around in the cargo bay behind us, maybe shuttle 'not-so' secure.

Nothing in there but a bunch of space suits. Bres better not be getting jumpy on me, this research tub has plenty of windows and things that won't react well to a stream of plasma.

Dubois from Echo team comes running in yelling about being attacked by some sort of alien creature in the dark. I ask him if he's sure it wasn't Mendez making moves on him.

I've never seen Dubois shaken up like this. He tells us that as soon as they moved into the command pod, the lights went out and the intruder control system filled the pod with foam and gas. The alien jumped out of the corner and starting clawing at him. Mendez kicked the thing off him and killed it while Dubois crawled out of the pod to escape the gas filling the pod.

Dubois exchanges spacesuits in the shuttle cargo bay and moves back through the airlocks to the corridor before Kyoshi can take a look at his injury. Dubois must have seen something real ugly. Again I wonder if it wasn't Mendez.

We all pile out of the shuttle into the corridor. Kyoshi goes over to Dubois to see what he can do to help him with his injury. Bres, Lichter, and me move to the aft corridor to find SGT. Hernandez and Yee grabbing a security video disk floating in zero g.

We tell Sarge about Dubois and he tells us to secure engineering. No time for chit chat.

Orbit 12
We go through the airlock into enigneering, Bres leads the way. I move to the left and Lichter moves to the right. Empty. There's a hatch in the middle of the room on the ceiling.

Bres moves to climb the ladder to the hatch. I tap her on the shoulder and give her a dirty look to remind her about zero g. Bres lets go of the ladder and floats up to the hatch. Kyoshi rejoins us and says Dubois will be fine, no major injuries. Yee and SGT. Hernandez join us in engineering to examine the security video they found.

Orbit 11
Bres goes through the hatch, I get up there as fast as I can and take point. It's some sort lab room. I take a quick glance behind me to see Lichter floating through the hatch.

And I see one.

Right there on the ceiling hanging right above Bres and Lichter. It's one ugly looking cuss.

Both catch what I'm looking at. Bres and then Lichter move towards me and swing around to nail the bugger with their G71 rifles. It floats off the ceiling. I open up with the RPP-7 and cook it. I'll claim that one even though Bres and Lichter will complain.

That thing's charred corpse floats around the room. After searching and finding nothing in the lab, we move back down to engineering. Sarge gives us the details, we've accounted for 4 crew members so far and need to move into the gravity ring. Echo and our team will ride the lift car to the ring, secure the corridors, and then start searching. Sarge and Foxtrot will wait for the lift car to return and then move up and help with securing the corridors.

I ask Sarge if he likes barbecue. That gets a rise out of Bres at least. She always laughs at my jokes, Lichter does not.

Orbit 10
We ride lift car 1 to the grav ring with Echo team.

Standard ops, Bres leads the way into the grav ring while Lichter and I cover the ends of the corridor. We adjust to the gravity quickly and find the corridor empty. Echo team moves into the corridor after us.

Orbit 9
Echo team deploys into the next lab corridor. We go the other way and deploy into the computer room corridor. Kyoshi for us and Dubois for them stay behind to keep the central corridor clear while waiting for Sarge to ride the lift car into the grav ring.

We're surprised to see a ranting and raving crew member at the end of the computer room corridor. Before we can approach him, he draws a pistol and fires two shots. Both hit me, but neither penetrate my body armor.

They only make me angry.

I open up with the plasma gun and fry the guy. 5 crew accounted for.

That'll be a 'fun' one to explain in the debrief.

Bres and Lichter move up to examine what's left of the corpse, but find very little.

Sarge's team finally moves up to help keep the corridors secure. We start our room by room search.

Orbit 8
Standard deployment of Bres, Lichter, and me into the computer room. Kyoshi holds the corridor with Sarma from Sarge's team.

The computer lab is empty.

Bres and Lichter try to hack the computer to get a RAM dump. Kyoshi and me move out to the corridor to let the 'IT' guys have a go. I ask Kyoshi how long we should give them before we call in our hacker, Robertson, to get the RAM dump.

Orbit 7
We wait outside the corridor for Bres and Lichter to make sense out of the RAM dump.

Orbit 6
Bres and Lichter come out of the computer room grinning from ear to ear to tell us they've accounted for 3 more crew. Good thing I didn't bet Kyoshi they'd still be in there trying to figure it out when this tub hits atmosphere and burns up.

We're up to 8 out of 15 crew accounted for. Back to the search.

Orbit 5
Standard deployment with Bres and Lichter into the expeditionary equipment room. Once again the room is empty. We're getting frustrated, where is everyone?

We move back to the corridor. Bres and Lichter will check out the life support room without me because there are some tight spaces in there that will keep me from being effective with the RPP-7. Kyoshi and me will hold the corridor. Sarma from Sarge's team moved back to the previous corridor to rejoin Foxtrot.

Orbit 4
Bres and Lichter go into the life support room.

They come out right away, another empty room.

We move back to the central corridor and rejoin Sarge and the rest of Foxtrot.

SGT. Hernandez explains we are going to search the remaining two labs in this corridor, then all 3 teams will move through the galley and search the staterooms. Sarge also fills us in on Echo team's progress. They also found nothing. Also Mendez's RPP-7 malfunctioned and Robertson moved lift car 2 to the grav ring in case we need to get out of the ring in a hurry.

It must have been something more than a simple overheat on her RPP-7 for Mendez to drop her baby. She just has a pistol now.

Sarge's team moves towards the galley to hold that corridor while Echo and our team search the final 2 labs.

Orbit 3
We deploy into the chemlab while Echo goes into the geolab.

CONTACT! We must have spooked it because it ran right for the door to the corridor.

We run back to the corridor after the thing where Mendez tells us she saw it run into Sarge's corridor. I mumble something about it being too bad because it and Mendez could have become 'good' friends, but not so loud that Mendez can hear it. She's liable to slug me for a comment like that after having to drop her RPP-7.

We move into Sarge's corridor. Orlov from Foxtrot claimed the kill on our fleeing alien. We prepare to deploy into the galley.

Orbit 2
Our team deploys into the galley and an alarm goes off. The room immediately fills with foam and gas. There's an alien caught in the foam on the table in the middle of the room. It frees itsef and runs out the stateroom corridor hatch on the opposite side of the room.

Yee and Orlov from Sarge's team move up to hold the galley while we prepare to go after it.

Orbit 1
We move into the stateroom corridor and find an alien. Who knows if it's the same one?

Who cares? I open up with the RPP-7 while Bres moves forward and also fires. The alien goes down and doesn't get up. Corridor secure. I'll concede that one to Bres.

Everyone moves into the 1st of 3 stateroom corridors. Sarge's team will secure the corridor and search staterooms while Echo and our team will concentrate on searching staterooms and lounges.

Echo team tells Sarge how they found a deceased crewmember back in the geolab, so we're up to 9 accounted for. Echo also found a reconbot that was too damaged to be of use, and they found and used an access code to shut down the ship's malfunctioning defense program. The ship shouldn't throw too nasty of a surprise at us anymore.

Orbit 1A
The Feynman feels like it's hitting the atmosphere, It's starting to rumble. We're running low on time.

Everyone deploys for the search for the final 6 crew memebers.

Kyoshi and me go into stateroom 4 and find a crewmen hiding under his desk and the ship's log. Crewman Slavin has a welding torch and is quickly convinced we're the rescue party.

I go to grab the ship's log while crewmen Slavin goes out into the corridor.

Orbit 1B
I examine the ship's log to account for 2 more crewmembers. We're up to 12 out of 15 including Slavin.

Everyone meets in the corridor. Robertson from Echo says they found pieces of a crewmen in lounge A bringing our total accounted for up to 13. Yee and Orlov report they killed some sort of herbivore alien in stateroom 2. We go back to our search while Foxtrot moves into the next corridor.

The search of the other staterooms along this corridor turn up nothing.

We all move into the next corridor and find what little is left of Yee and Sarma. Sarge says they were ambushed by 2 aliens and before anyone knew what was happening, Yee and Sarma were down. Both aliens were killed but Orlov was injured when one of the aliens' rifle wound sprayed acid blood onto him. Yee and Sarma will be missed, but there's no time to dwell on it or collect what is left of them.

Kyoshi patches Orlov's spacesuit with a suit patch he found earlier and gets out his medkit to dress up his acid wound.

SGT. Hernandez unjams his rifle and everyone prepares to resume the search for the final 2 crew. Sarge must have been pretty jumpy to have jammed his rifle when they were attacked.

Orbit 1C
Kyoshi finishes treating Orlov's wound.

Sarge and me move into stateroom 1 and find it empty. We move back to the corridor.

Dubois comes out of lounge B and says they found the last 2 crewmen dead. He, Robertson, and Mendez also killed 2 more aliens. Mendez and Robertson were shaken up a bit, but should be fine.

Bres and Lichter come back from their search and add they found 2 aliens in stateroom 9, but took care of them.

Everyone is accounted for, it's time to get the hell out of here.

Sarge will stay with Dubois and wait for Mendez and Robertson to finish their search of the dead crewmen in lounge B while the rest of us ride lift car 1 back to the ship's aft corridor.

Bresinski, Lichter, Kyoshi, Orlov, Colovisto, crewmen Slavin and me get into lift car 1 and ride it back to the aft corridor. Back to zero g.

Orbit 1d
Standard ops, Bres, Lichter and me deploy into the corridor and find it empty.

The rest get out of the lift car and follow us as we move up to the hatch to the main corridor.

REENTRY
The ship slams into the atmosphere. Everyone remains calm as we have plenty of time to evacuate.

Bres, Lichter and me deploy into the final corridor where we stumble into a lone alien. Luckily it does not see us moving through the hatch.

I open fire with my RPP-7 from point blank range. One more dead bug.

Colovisto and Orlov hold the aft corridor while waiting on Sarge and Foxtrot, while we hold the main corridor.

I move up to the shuttle locks while we wait.

After an agonizing wait, the rest of the team comes through the aft hatch. Sarge yells to re-secure the transport shuttle. Orlov will pilot that one with half the team while everyone else will evac on the assault shuttle.

Bres, Lichter, and me move into the port airlock to the transport shuttle while Kyoshi and crewman Slavin move into the starboard lock to the assault shuttle.

We then move into the shuttle airlock and prep for securing the transport shuttle which hasn't been occupied since right after we boarded. The ride is starting to get rather hairy as we plummet through the atmosphere.

Bres first, then Lichter, and then me. I take up point looking forward out the transport shuttle's windows. I see the glowing superheated atmosphere beginning to envelop the ship.

A single alien is waiting. It jumps right at me with unbelievable speed in zero g.

Before I can swing my RPP-7 to fire at it, it swipes me across the chest with it's claws. My legs buckle. I taste blood and hit the ground hard.

Lichter and Bres open fire wounding the alien, but it gets right up and attacks Lichter. Lichter fends it off as he goes to the ground and fires an amazing shot that virtually explodes the thing. Acid blood shoots everyhwere and lightly wounds Lichter.

Robertson, Dubois, and Orlov enter the shuttle. Orlov runs forward to the pilot's seat to begin the launch sequence. Bres runs to my side.

As Orlov readies the shuttle, Hernandez radios from the assault shuttle. They made it off the Feynman. Colovisto, Mendez, Kyoshi, Crewmen Slavin, and Hernandez are accounted for in the assault shuttle. He tells Orlov they can see the Feynman breaking up, we need to move off right now.

As the Feynman broke up in the atmosphere, the transport shuttle pulled away with Orlov, Dubois, Robertson, Bresinski, Lichter, and one dead Marine.

Bres cried.

"Private Eastwood!"

Unlike my last session, nearly all the rolls and cup draws went my way. I actually picked Eastwood as my POV from the very beginning too.
