I made 3 mdf trays lined in cotton wool that sit in the game box, 1 for each of the armies and the third for the cards and other accessories.

When the armies are unloaded and cotton wool removed, there are reinforcement cards under to store the figures during the game.

Cheap, plastic rifle case. Flip the top and bottom padding on the inside upside down.

For those of us Brits, what's a rifle case?

I just threw mine back in the box in the original plastic tub thing. It's been about 6 months and a dozen or so plays later and they still look the same as the day I painted them.


Whatever way you decide to go, don't skimp on the clear coat (and by that I mean buy the good stuff of your choice..) the clear coat is what really protects the paint in the end.

Yes, Philip is spot on, several nice protective clear coats are very important (and I think matte looks better than gloss). I finished mine over a year and a half ago and just keep them in plastic bags sorted by nations. After many plays and abuse, they look fine to me.

To best seal your minis, first hit them with one or two coats of gloss clear coat. Follow that with coats of matte clear coat; enough coats so they don't look glossy anymore, 2 or 3 should do it. The gloss is much harder then matte and will protect better.

GIve them 10-15 minutes between coats. Give them 2 hours to fully dry before you handle them.

I use Krylon Uv-resistant matte and gloss.

I thought I would share my experience with these figs.

I tried just throwing my painted figures back in the case in a jumble, no good.

I finished painting my minis about a month ago, and have played a few times. Here and there I have touched up a figure or 2 that needed it. Last night I pulled them all out and decided to give them a good look, and at least half of them had noticeable chips.

I sealed my minis well. 6 coats of Krylon Gloss, followed by 2 coats of Dullcote. I figured the thick coats coupled with the soft plastic would keep them in good shape, it doesn't

They're not totally trashed, but they are chipped. If you're anal like me, your painted minis will need a better storage option. Hopefully they'll do something nice for the collectors edition.

I spent a few hours retouching and sealing all the poor damaged soldiers. I'm going to build some card trays much like Nick's.
