i'd look for it used were i you. has become our favorite game after seeming a bit confusing or dry at first. the only game which has led to a regular weekly session.
the german graphics are better -- i'd buy a german version if i were doing it again.
chaddyboy_2000 (#21217), I emailed Mayfair about this and they said that they would be back to full stock by December and possibly sooner. They said that they are waiting on a shipment of wood from their supplier.
dkeisen (#21671), Is this really such a problem? Having taught well over a dozen different people how to play the game I've never once had someone mistaken that space as a river tile.
Unfortunately, I've only ever played the game in cyberspace. Looking forward to my first experience with the genuine wood-and-cardboard article, so even when I get the game next Wednesday, I won't be able to say if the problem has been fixed.
chaddyboy_2000 (#21217), I emailed Mayfair this week about Tigris & Anno 1503 & they wrote: "Anno 1503 will be announced when the contracts are completed and the product has finished pre-press prep and the print windows are set in stone. Tigris should return to stock in mid-January, it was delayed by a printer error."
I talked to Mayfair a few days ago. Apparently the new production run had a defect ... the tiles did not fit the board! Its supposed to be yet another couple of weeks until the new print is available .. and yes, they did change the board/tiles, though I am not certain how.
ressu (#26373), Do you mean that you have the old board (with the "defective map" including the ambiguous non-river space" or that the map was defective because its too small for the tiles in the new set? Are you able to comment on any differences in the artwork ON the tiles?
Ick. This is ridiculous - I've been waiting for the Mayfair reissue because I prefer their design to the German version, and then they go and make a board that's even worse.
Your dissent inspired me to break out my copy and compare. Seems you're right. Two things can be learned from this: the board looks even more gaudy in .jpg format and I haven't played E&T in too long.
Ick. It looks like Sasquatch wiped his ass on that board. Is it really that hard to design simple, nice looking graphics? All the fluff just makes it look like garbage.
I like the game enough that I want to buy it anyways, but it sure makes me less excited about it.
