Does anyone aware of any gaming groups/clubs in or around the Chesterfield area that is looking for or open to new players?

I am keen to play more games as currently I only get to play when on holiday with/visiting friends or when I can 'persuade' my better half.

I will try any game at least twice, once to see if I like it and second time to see if I was right.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Greg, welcome to BGG.

I'm probably one of the nearer members to you, living in Retford about 25 miles away, but I've not found much in the way of game clubs to the west of me. I game on the first and third Saturday in York at Beyond Monopoly (check out Jon Power "Eye of Night") and at Lincoln Boardgamers on the first and third Tuesday, both of which you would be welcome at, but I recognise that both venues are a fair distance for you to travel. The York one shouldn't be too bad by train though. If you do find out about any groups in Sheffield / Chesterfield area then please let me know.

Hey Greg,

Cor. another gamer in Chesterfield. Never thought I'd see the like. I'm in Tapton, near the college. I've not been gaming that long and have trouble getting my wife and son to play much. Managed to get the neighbours in once for Formula De and Monopoly which was great but its not yet been repeated. I don't know if the Chesterfield Open Gamers Society is still going at the market hall. They seem to go for Warhammer and some home made games.

The Runelords were also in the market hall but I've no url for them but they're mentioned here ..

I've been looking at trying out some wargames lately. I bought a few boxes but I've not had the courage to tackle the rules yet. Other than that my wife will play Lost Cities and Odins Ravens. My son Talisman, Carcasonne and monopoly. They've both dabbled with Wings of War but couldn't get into it. Anyway I could go on but you may as well just check my owns list.

Did you ever do LRP with anyone from Sheffield? I used to work with a few guys who went regularly.

Cheers,

Patrick
