BookShelf Games Video Review
Video Review for ElfBall

This video is about 30 mins. It covers the basic rules of the game
through some examples of common plays such as face off, tackling, and
passing.

ElfBall is fast paced fantasy sports game. Players will take control
of a fantasy race and try to fight there way to victory. In the video I
said that the game closely resembles American Football but after
thinking about it, I think it may more resemble Rugby. From the little I
know of Rugby the dominate strategy seems to be to line up your players
so that a player can move a fair distance then lateral the ball to a
team mate so they can move the ball a bit further. I think this would be
an excellent strategy for Elfball.

Great summary! I will probably just follow this script when I teach people to play.

Two points:

1. Throwing. You had it 99% correct however you stated the +2 penalty was when you were throwing more than half of your Jog. It's actually when you are throwing more than half of the maximum passing distance. So for the long passes which are up to 18 hexes you get a +2 mod when you throw 10 or more hexes, and for the short passes that are 6 or less you get a +2 when you throw 4 or more.

2. The company wisely has streamlined the rules a bit to make them easier and create less randomness. The catch rules have been integrated into the throwing table for example.

Also the rulebook is available for FREE on Impact Miniature's website. The rules as they are right now are very smooth and very fun. The decrease both randomness and playtime.

Great review! I look forward to visiting your site and seeing more.

Very nice review ... there are three errors we found in it.

1) As Pariah already pointed out ... throws are short or long based on distance thrown and if you moved or not (not on Jog). So if you move before or after the throw (1-3 hexes is short / 4-6 is long). If you don't move before or after its (1-9 hex is short / 10-18 is long).

2) On a Tackle or Shove for a teammate to give your opponent the +1 success needed the teammate has to be adjacent and facing to the opponent throwing the tackle/shove not the teammate. In the example he's adjacent to the teammate but not the opponent.

3) When tackling (or shoving) from behind a player you get a -1 modifier to the successes needed.

Like I said ... nice review ... just wanted to point these 3 items out if folks were using the video to learn the rules of the game.
