That's right, they don't. There's no order. That's why my comment said it was excruciatingly tedious.

All I know (which isn't much) is that it has to do with
Spoiler (click to reveal)
the horse's name, the Pole Position (PP) and the lengths ahead (the number after the hyphen in the Finish column

Supposedly you don't need the bottom half except as a hint. Also supposedly you just need to read in order to get directions, but that hasn't worked for me.

Even all the author's salt didn't help me. I finally solved it by guessing the 12-letter answer.

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Use the horses in the order they're listed. For each horse, take its PP and find the matching number in the finish column, then use the lengths ahead for that second horse as a tanga number in the first horse's name.

Start with knowing that
Spoiler (click to reveal)
Most Tanganites live in the Estados Unidos de America

Then find
Spoiler (click to reveal)
the Estado de Mexicanos where each clue is located

More salt
Spoiler (click to reveal)
Get the clue word from the numbered letter in each state's name

And finally
Spoiler (click to reveal)
Do the same thing with the clue that you did for each location

So I've been going through solving old OWW's . . . and I see there's something up there 2x, with one of them having few solves. Any ideas what happened?

http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/178-1-10-2007 (577 solves)
http://www.tanga.com/puzzles/327-1-10-2007 (74 solves)

Or is it just my lucky day? :D

Music Hard OWW

Anyone having any luck on this one?

The music does not seem to be anything recognizable. The letters that correspond to the notes don't get you anywhere. I'm guessing the "misspelling" in the title either refers to ASCII or skiing, but none of the skiing terms I've tried work. My first thought, "slalom" seemed to be the most promising.

Re: Master Tanga Puzzle Thread
I'm not getting really anywhere, but I was hooked on the "bit" and 8-bit music is the early Nintendo music? (Bit if you're looking at 8-bit coding, there's no "G", so I don't know if I'm on the right track)

Trying that and some other things, including translating the notes into numbers and converting. Going to keep playing with it.

Looked at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atari_SAP_music_format

Well, I've tried every which way I can to turn the chords/letter names of notes into ASCII code, but everything turns into gibberish. Can you give me more salt??
