I really enjoy playing Settlers of Catan, but I don't always have 3-6 people, a clear playing table, or a couple of hours to get my fix. Also there's the set up... So the regular game isn't always an option.

Catan Dice Game fits the bill! In most cases I actually prefer this game to the original. It's like Yahtzee with the Catan theme. There is more strategy in dice selection and building than in Yahtzee and this game manages to keep with most of the major elements of Catan.

I like that I can play this game with my 4 year-old and he can mostly get it (he feels so excluded when we play "grown up" games). You can even play it solitaire if you'd like. It can bog down a little bit if you get too many people playing, but generally makes for a quick game with 2-3 people. I love that we can pull it out and finish a game in the 15 minutes before dinner is ready. And there's nearly no set up and clean up to do!

There's even some strategy involved; do I go for the road and a knight or just a settlement? Do I focus on settlements, cities, or both? Should I spend this resource joker now or save it for later?

If you like Catan you'll like this game unless you really dislike Yahtzee. Yes, it relies on chance with the dice rolls, but you have the ability to try to maximize or minimize your odds through your selections. It's a perfect filler game.

I'm actually kinda sick of this game. If I wanna play it, I'd rather go with the computer version posted here on BGG. That being said, I'm still gonna keep my copy and present it as a filler game b/c I really do believe that it is a nice filler. It'll be weird to get ppl to play your own game w/o you actually being in the game, but I believe I can get that to work.

I was also disappointed with this game out of the box. I'd like to know what you think of the Dice Game "Plus" and the variants I am working on for it. See the "Growth of production..." thread!

I haven't had time to get sick of it yet. One of the things I like the most about this game is that my 5-year old son can play, unlike most of the other games we have. It's something that he can really get. It is a great filler game (but I'd have to say I like Zombie Fluxx better!)

I'll check it out.
