Sir Lamorak and the 5th Morgan card
Sir Lamorak's Special ability: "Any time you are about to lose 1 Life point, you may choose to discard 2 White cards instead."

5th Morgan card: "One Knight may volunteer to lose 2 Life points at once; or all Knights with 1 or more White card in hand must each discard 1 card"

What are Sir Lamorak's options when the 5th Morgan card is drawn?

Can Lamorak use his special ability even if the card make him lose 2 Life points instead of 1?

Can Lamorak discard 4 white cards to cancel a loss of 2 life points or must he only discard 2 white cards to reduce the life points loss by 1?

Well, it says " ...2 life points at once..." and "...you are about to lose 1 life point...". So if Lamorak decides to take the effects of the 5th Morgan card, he loses 2 life points. He is not about to lose 1 life point (but 2 at once), so his special ability cannot take effect.

I'd allow Lamorak to choose whatever he prefers: discard 4 cards or discard 2 (and thus lose a Life point) or discard none (and thus lose 2 life points).

I'd be tempted to play it that Lamorak CAN use his ability when choosing to lose 2 lives... BUT that he can only use it once.. hence he can prevent 1 by discarding 2 cards, but not prevent both!

I think this is the right way of seeing this.

Official ruling please?

I'm afraid we may be on the edge of the "Cosmic Encounter" syndrome, where expansions with special powers create paradoxes as they interact with other game mechanics. I hope not!

Out of curiosity, does Sir Lamorak's power let him discard cards when he chooses to lose a life, like during progression of evil, or to take an extra heroic action?

No, you can't do that. Bruno answered that question on his own FAQ, which I translated here:

That's silly, and not what the rules say. We don't play that way.
