Kevin,

Thanks for the update(s). Appreciate your keeping us (me) informed; it does make the delay more bearable. :)

Is there a similar impact for Supernova? :(

I'm in the process of investigating the impact this will have on Supernova and Municipium, as those are at the same facility as Titan. I'm hoping to have all the information by next week, and I'll post to let everyone know.

Ack. Please, don't ask because Valley Games might answer.

Ack, Valley Games has an answer (sort of).

I am now able to officially confirm that Municipium WILL be affected by the Titan delay due to all the projects being worked on in the same facility.

I do not yet have any indication about the length of the delay for Municipium, although I do expect to have this information shortly. I do not expect that the delay will be substantial.

We're expecting Municipium in late August or early September.

Just picked this up today at GenCon in Indy. Interestingly, the first run of these has a printing error on the box which I was apparently the first one to notice. One part of the box says 3-5 players, another part says 2-4 players. The owner of Valley was pretty mortified and mentioned he hoped the printer was printing Titan and not Municipium at the moment.

Incidentally, the correct player count is 2-4. I'll try to get a session report up once I play it :)

I picked up a copy from GenCon. It wasn't shrinkwrapped and the box had some crushing damage. Haven't inspected the insides yet.

Can we get another source on the player numbers? The reason I ask is that BGG is still showing 3-5 players, and more importantly, the rules PDF file here indicates 5 player colours. I'm hoping this game plays 2, but it would seem that it must play at least 5 players.

I played the prototype, and that was 5-player.

It's still listed on Valley and Eagle Games websites as 3 - 5 players. Some conflicting info here... was the 5th player nixed?

Well, there were only 4 player colors in the box. And the guy at the Valley games booth also said it was supposed to be 4.

We played as a 2 player and it was fun.

Just to clarify, yes, this is a game for 2-4 players. The reason for the confusion is that the designer asked for this change at the 11th hour. Of course, we're more than happy to trust his judgement on this one.

The time I played it, we played it with 5, and I really enjoyed that. Wouldn't have minded having it 5 player :(

From what I remember of the prototype, that would be easy enough. Grab 7 of the same colour of meeple, block or square, and you've got a stand-in family.

I thought so, but I wasn't sure, it's been almost 2 years since then :)

It's on the boat as we speak and should be available next month, I think.

Just saw this comment from Eric Martin on Boardgame News...

Quote:
Kevin Nesbitt at Valley Games recently sent updated release dates for several upcoming titles, with Titan now due in November and Municipium and Supernova in December. He hasn’t clarified whether these games will or won’t appear at Spiel; as soon as I know, I’ll post the info.

December? Drat. I was hoping to put Municipium in my pre-xmas order, but that's cutting it too close and risking messing up things I'll need as gifts. I guess it'll have to wait until my summer 2009 big order. :(

From an e-mail I received last night:
Torben Sherwood wrote:
Greetings all,

I wanted to update you where we are with Titan, Municipium and Supernova. They have arrived in port and are to be cleared and delivered to our shipping facility Oct 25th. They are 8 days late as they were to arrive in port on the 8th of October. We were told that shipping lanes were busy, whatever, at this point we are happy they arrived.

We were sent new copies of the final production as well by overnight courier to ensure that the quality was there and that all of the errors were fixed. It looks great, the last adjustment by adding a lid to the custom tray that holds all of the tokens, makes this game.

Municipium and Supernova look fantastic as well and all of our issues have been resolved on those as well.

We are going to have our shipping folks, who reside in Georgia, start on the deliveries right away as soon as they are sorted out. We have agreed that these are the highest priority and that we cannot have them delayed at all. They are in complete agreement with us and have dedicated people to get this out the door to you right away. For the Canadian customers, the games are being sent to me to ship on to you so that you don't have to pay more GST on them. That would happen if they were shipped out of the USA to you. So I will pay for them and then send them on.

There is not much else to say other than we are glad this is coming to an end and you should all be able to enjoy your games very soon.

Regards,

Torben Sherwood

Two week since this was supposed to ship. Has anyone seen them yet, or heard anything?

Most game companies are unable to keep the promises they make on ship dates. I have found that the best way for me to stop getting frustrated with the wait is to stop checking. I figure my order will arrive when it arrives and I'll be pleasantly surprised to see it. That said, since the games are apparently sitting in storage and ready to be shipped, if I don't receive my preorders by the end of the year I will be asking for a refund of the money which I have already been charged.
