CrackeD ICE is yet another game that can be played with the Icehouse (or Treehouse) pyramids made by Looney Labs. It's a dexterity game with an amazingly quick setup time and pretty quick play time, depending on the number of players.

What You Need to Play:
One stash per person, plus an extra large pyramid
A CD (If you find yourself playing often, you can stick a cd in the microwave for a couple seconds, giving it a cracked finish.)

Set-Up:
Place the cd on top of the large pyramid that isn't part of a player's stash. Fastest setup ever.

Game Play:
Each player takes a turn placing a piece. If the cd tips on your turn, you've cracked the ice. The player who cracks the ice takes back their pieces, and all the other pieces that were in play are removed from the game. If you successfully place your last piece, you win.

Strategy:
There's more strategy to this game than you'd expect at first glance.

You have to balance trying to get rid of your big, heavy pieces early in the game against not tipping the cd. If you play the heavy pieces too early in the game, there isn't enough weight to counterbalance them. If you wait too long to play your heavy pieces, then you are forced to play them wherever there is enough room, even if it will cause the cd to tip.

You can also place pieces on their sides to take up more space, especially if your opponents have played most of their smaller pieces. Anything goes, as long as you don't cover another piece or tip the cd.

Review:
CrackeD ICE is way more fun that you'd expect, and it's fairly addictive.

The best aspect of it is the speed. You can play it anywhere, and setup time is nonexistent. I carry a couple stashes and a cd in my purse, so my friends and I can play whenever we have a couple minutes.

I wouldn't buy Icehouse stashes just for this game, but if you have a couple stashes or plan to buy them, CrackeD ICE is definitely worth a play. It's good filler between heavier games, or when you don't have time to play something more in depth.
