If I have a damaged unit, and someone fires at me, do I have to reveal the damage counter, or only if it would have made a difference?

i.e., a unit fires at my damaged unit and rolls a 2. The unit would have missed regardless of my new stats from the damage counter. Do I still have to reveal the damage counter, or only if the stats actually make a difference to the outcome?

If you reveal it when it matters, why don't you have to reveal it when it don't matters to prove it?

Yes, they should, but why reveal it when it matters then?

Just asking... ;)

When it matters, that means they've shot you dead anyways. :)

The rules say to only reveal a hit counter when a player uses the affected stats. On defense, we reveal only if a defensive modifier applies, before the die roll, to establish a "to hit" number.

Good question though, I never had any question about that until now...:)

I reveal it 'when it matters' just to add to the narrative. For example, there is some satisfaction showing the opponent he spent resources killing a gun that could not fire.

Seems like the responses are unanimous on this... I agree, that sounds like the best way to play, and that's how I'll do it. Thanks!
