So I played this a couple of times for the first time and so here is my review:

First: If you don't know, I'm a jaded war gamer, deal with it!

Second: This is a good game.

What do I mean a bunch of old rules in a Unique Way?
Well it's nothing special for rules, they have all been done before, to death, how ever, how they work is unique.
First to gain VP you need to gather stuff, sets if you will, so it's a gathering game.
Second to do actions you have to choose roles, so it a role selection game.
Third to can trump other peoples actions with your own cards, so for those who have not figured it out yet, this is a TRICK taking game.
All old news? Sure, but it works so interestingly fresh, that its fun.

So how does it work:
Well each player has a set of role cards, like race for the galaxy or what not. Each one allows them to do some action, like gathering resources, or trading those in for victory point cards or money (which can gain even more resources or VP chips). Some can also steal goods from others, to gather you VP cards (mwhahahaha). Lastly there is an interesting wild card, which changes in ability each hand, as determined by a deck of cards that is shuffled and drawn a new one each hand (a interesting mechanic I actually have not seen and like a lot.) Each player, like in any other role selection, chooses there roles, 5 of the 12, forming a hand of roles they want to make.
After the formation of the hands, it is times to play. This is the bluffing/trick taking mechanic part. Who ever 'won' the last trick, whether this hand or last play of the last hand, starts. They play a role, declaring "I am the (name of role)" like "I am the wizard". This can start to sound very metal(heavy). Then going around the table, anyone who has that exact same role, must follow by playing that role. When they do, they have two options:

A) conceding the trick to the previous player to claim it, and take the secondary action immediately. In an example, if I were to play "I am the herb picker", and you followed with a herb picker, you could concede it to me, and just take one herb yourself. Once your have done so you place your card on top of your card pile (of used cards.)
B) you can say "NO, I AM the HERB PICKER!!!!" (Cackle evily) forcing me to 'discard' (place it on top of my used card pile). A you now are winning the trick. HOWEVER, if a player further down the line now has the HERB PICKER, they can do the same to you, and you get nothing just like me who you sniped! You were greedy and should of just taken the 1.

This usually means if you lead it, some one else might take that role from you. In a larger game people are more likely to submit because they still have a lot of people after them. remember here, that once some one plays a roll, ex the herb picker, everyone who choose that role as one of their's must play it! So only one person will get the full benefit. The last person in line, if he/she has that roll can of course, always claim it, as there is no one after her/him to snipe them. Of course, if they don't have that card, and the person before them submitted to the previous claimer, then the submitter will usually grit their teeth! So basically it's all about guessing correctly what the people down the line from you have so that you know whether or not to claim a roll when played. Of course, if you lead a role and no one else had that role, you get to do it!

Points are gained by using a role that allows you to either collect vials (1 for 1 point) by trading in gold or resources. Or using resources to gain cards, which go from 2-6. Once four of the higher value cards (out of 10) are drawn, the game is over.

Every hand you get to choose your cards all over again, you can choose the same, some of the same, or even a whole new hand! The game plays quick maybe 30-45 at best.

Wow, that's simple, yet confusing in some parts. The whole stealing of roles makes a lot more sense when you actually play it. It's really simple, either try to claim it hoping some one else doesn't or take the lighter version, thinking some one else will claim it down the line that play and you don't want to get nothing.

It's fun, there is a lot of bluffing and thinking, but it goes quick and it doesn't hurt your brain. You simply stare the next guy in the eye and think "does he have it or not", and make your move. Also saying "NO I AM THE (role)" is fun, as the horror on your opponents face spreads in reaction to your awesome theft (when it was the one he really wanted). Also you can lead to destroy, making people claim or at least play their card that they wanted to play after another one (to get what they needed first). This can be great amusement. So, it's just a good game.

It's good to see a fellow fan of this game. I liked your approach to the review. I hadn't thought about treating it as a trick-taking game, but that definitely makes sense. Well done!
