My car was broken into and they stole some games. LOL
I had to park on the street last night because my family lives in Galveston and evacuated to my apartment in Austin. The thieves completely destroyed a window, and messed up my dashboard trying to get the radio out. The idiots probably caused over $500 worth of damage trying to get a $50 radio that the thief will probably get $10 for at a pawn shop.

The worst part was that the assholes took my copy of Age of Empires and Conquest of the Empire. They did leave my copy of Fortress America. LOL

Who steals board games?

That's pretty terrible but maybe they will become gamers because of those games.

I thought the LOL was an indication that they stole a copy of Munchkin or LCR or something, because that would have been LOL indeed!

[After the thieves play a game of Munchkin--which takes 5 hours.]

Next time keep Monopoly in plain sight in the car. Surely that will scare them off. Or better yet maybe they'll break in and LEAVE a good game.

Sorry about the window and radio, though.

I wonder how long before your family can return to Galveston, looked like a lot of flooding there. I watched the news this morning and it seems it didn't get quite as bad as they had anticipated, even though it was bad enough...I live near Ft. Worth and we're getting a little rain and some gusty wind. The grass is too wet to mow, darn it.

Did anyone else see the Fall of Geraldo? They keep playing it over and over and over....good grief. Almost as bad as that vault thing years ago in Chicago...what a joke.

(I edited this 4 times because it's too early in the morning for me to be using my brain!)

Happened to me once as well. In my case, it was a backpack, that was full of games. Now while I'm sure the thieves expected nicely bound stacks of 10s and 20s, instead all they got was Tikal, Through the Desert, and Goldland...

Keep an eye out on Craigslist and see if the games show up....then call the cops! Craigslist seems to be the new "fence" for petty thieves.

Maybe they stole the games then wrecked the dash to make it look like they were after the $50 radio?

You probably won't believe this story, but it's true.

My friend and gaming buddy Brian Poe (golux on the geek) once had his car stolen and when it was retrieved it had games that he did not own in it, including an obscure RPG and a copy of Yinsh. He eventually pieced it together and realized that the thief had stolen another car, taken the games out of that car, stolen his car, and finally abandoned his car and left the games in it.

Again, if I hadn't followed the story every step of the way, I wouldn't have believed it.

He did end up keeping them, but not deceitfully. He went to the local game store and managed to track down whose they were (via asking about who buys the obscure RPG), but there was some communication breakdown in getting them back to him. I don't remember the details.

Actually he gave the copy of Yinsh to me, which I still have. If the guy ever wants it back I wouldn't hold it against him.

When I was in art school, some friends and I went to buy some photography supplies. Then we went out on the town. At some point, someone broke into my friend's car and mutilated the dash getting out a broken sparkomatic tape player. They left three 35 millimeter cameras, and several hundred dollars worth of photography supplies sitting in the back seat. It could have turned out worse.

I once had a car that couldn't be locked. Some lowlife got in and tore apart the steering column. The car would no longer start.

Lived across the street from a shop at the time. Had a mechanic come over and take a look at it. Apparently the thieves knew what they were doing. The mechanic was able to stick a screwdriver into the steering column where they has torn it up and was able to start the car. From that day forward I started the car with a screwdriver gingerly placed in the steering column.

I had a pack of "Death" Cigarettes I had bought in Holland years before in the glove box. That's all they stole.

Someone who sees the box and thinks that whoever possesses it is the rightful king of Puerto Rico.
Sounds like they should make more money by selling the games than the radio... :surprise:

Sorry about your loss. :(
