The rules are standard Monopoly, except that they are much easier to understand and more straightforward; they seem to be written with younger children's participation in mind. BOOOO-Opoly plays more like Monopoly under house rules than traditional rulebook rules, which, in my opinion, makes the game a bit more fun. Written into the rules is the old "Free Parking" rule, which states that monies other than rent and property fees are paid into the middle of the board rather than the Bank. When someone lands on "Free Parking" (called "Free Candy" here), he gets the pot. In playing this game my friends and I felt comfortable in altering this rule than we would have in Monopoly. (Our variant was that if there was no money in Free Candy, the player who landed there could roll the dice and gain 10 times the amount rolled. We felt it was perfectly fair--everyone should get Halloween candy!)
We enjoyed this game very much, finding it wittier and funnier than traditional Monopoly. Highly recommended whether you have a monster fetish or not.
(Another note: Late For The Sky stands behind its products. My set did not seem to have all the Trick and Treat cards, so I called the company as per the website instructions for replacement parts and left a message explaining the problem and my phone number. The next day I received a phone message from LFTS stating that I did indeed have an incomplete set; a replacement set was going out that day. I received the new set that same weekend in the mail--they're quite a pleasure to do business with!)
