Which of the Top 10 Wargames Would You Buy (or Not Buy)?
The current Top 10 are:
1. Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear! - Russia 1941-1942
2. Case Blue
3. SPQR Deluxe
4. The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen
5. WestFront II
6. Napoleon's Triumph
7. EastFront II
8. Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes
9. Twilight Struggle
10. DAK2

Personally, I must have Napoleon's Triumph, and I'd like to get CoH:AtB and (to a slightly lesser extent) Twilight Struggle. Beyond that, most of these don't hold that much interest for me.

I own 2 of these, Napoleon's Triumph and Twilight Struggle. I would consider getting East Front II. Don't much care for TS, and NT hasn't struck me the way BaM did, as I haven't played it enough to get my head around it.

If I had the cash, I'd probably BUY all of them!

:D

However, realistically, I'd only PLAY WestFront II, EastFront II, Twilight Struggle, and a few scenarios in DAK2 and Devil's Cauldron.

Of the group, numbers 1, 4, and 9!

I already own the following:
1. Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear! - Russia 1941-1942
9. Twilight Struggle

Would love to have the following, but they cost too much and I would probably never play them, but I still would want them:

(in order of choice)
4. The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen
5. WestFront II
7. EastFront II
2. Case Blue
10. DAK2

I think I had this years ago, so I would guess that I would not want it again:
3. SPQR Deluxe

Not sure, need to investigate them:

6. Napoleon's Triumph
8. Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes

Definately CoH, and I'd love to have East Front II as well. One you didn't mention that I really want is Panzer Grenadier Eastern Front.

I own them all except Case Blue, which is my most wanted wargame right now, and the block games, for which I own the earlier implementations and don't feel the need to upgrade.

The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen is my favorite game right now.

The next one on my play list is Iron Tide:Panzers in the Ardennes.

Napoleon's Triumph is genius, so that is a good call on your part.

I have all of these with the exception of #3, which I have no real desire to own.

If I could go back and "un-buy" any of the nine I own, both CoH and TS would not have been purchased.

[EDIT: Just purchased one of the ten games on the list. I'm so weak...]

Personally, I would buy SPQR Deluxe, WestFront II, EastFront II, and Napoleon's Triumph.

Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear fell flat for me; while the OCS games, and The Devil's Cauldron are too expensive for me.

Twilight Struggle doesn't strike me as a wargane; and why is it Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes appears on this list?

I own Twilight Struggle and Tide of Iron, I would most likely only buy the ToI expansion. The "war games" seem to be very $$ for the quality of the components. Yea I know it is about the gameplay but I am a "bits guy".:p

With that list:

1. Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear! - Russia 1941-1942
2. Case Blue
3. SPQR Deluxe
4. The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen
5. WestFront II
6. Napoleon's Triumph
7. EastFront II
8. Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes
9. Twilight Struggle
10. DAK2

I have SPQR second edition with all modules (I think it count for SPQR Deluxe) Have Devil's Cauldron and Iron Tide and love them. All 3 are on my favorite spots right now.

Twliight struggle isn't a wargame, isn't a game of historical decision making... for me is rubbish and everytime I reasd of it assciated with proper wargames I feel the need to kill...

Napoleon Triumph doesn't stack to high with my other austerlitz games (T&G, and the Vae victis one) so I don't care too much for it.

Conflict of Heroes doesn't seem quite bad... but...

I have panzergrenadier, I have ATS, I have lock and Load... do I need another tactical east front game? Definitely not.

I am thinking about DAK2 and Case Blue. Love them they are filled with manageable scenarios... but the price is scary..

Not tempted by the block realm.

Iron Tide:Panzers in the Ardennes, not Tide of Iron.
Now available in grape!

I have Conflict of Heroes, Napoleon's Triumph, SPQR, and Twilight Struggle.

I am unwilling to pay $150 bucks for a single game, especially an in-print one, so that rules out a couple.

And I think WWII is the least interesting conflict to game, so that rules out the others.

It's definitely not a wargane. Whether it is a wargame is debatable, though...:D

Iron Tide:Panzers in the Ardennes is the #8 most popular wargame on the Geek, as of this post.

Own
1. Conflict of Heroes - Okay game, too abstract, feels like resources management not small unit firefight. Probably wouldn't buy again.

3. SPQR Deluxe - Great game, not as complex as it seems. Strong recommend.

4. The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen - Haven't played yet.

5. WestFront II - Own the original version

6. Napoleon's Triumph - Solid game. Only solo so far (have played BaM FtF several times)

7. EastFront II - Own the orginal

8. Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes - Excellent game, probably my favorite Bulge game, check out my review on the game's page.

9. Twilight Struggle - Good solid game.

Don't own
2. Case Blue - not much room for monster games and OCS seems a bit too complex for my tastes. I almost preordered anyway due to topic and coolness factor. Wife talked me out of it considering price.
10. DAK2 - ditto

The current Top 10 are:
1. Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear! - Russia 1941-1942:
I plan on getting this one - looks very accessible, and graphically superior!

2. Case Blue
Nope - I no longer have interest in games of this level of detail, and certainly I would not play it nearly enough to justify the cost.

3. SPQR Deluxe
Nope - for ancients gaming these days, Commands & Colors: Ancients fits the bill much more effectively.

4. The Devil's Cauldron: The Battles for Arnhem and Nijmegen
Again, nothing wrong with the game other than the scale, complexity, and time requirement are now outside of my acceptable limits.

5. WestFront II
I might consider this, as I have recently started to get into block games.

6. Napoleon's Triumph
Got it - looks awesome, but I haven't played it yet - hopefully soon!

7. EastFront II
Same as for Westfront II - don't own it, but would consider.

8. Iron Tide: Panzers in the Ardennes
Nope - already have too many Bulge games - my favorite is Bitter Woods, and I don't feel I'm going to improve upon that experience greatly with another game.

9. Twilight Struggle
Might consider this as a game to play with my wife.

10. DAK2
No way - I appreciate it for what it is, but it's not for me!!!

I find this list odd in that Twilight Struggle is a top 10 war game and is based more on influence of power than actual combat. Then I see that a game like Combat Commander: Europe is ranked 28 overall, but 37 as a war game. Don't get me wrong, I love Twilight Struggle, but to me it is not a war game.

I own CoH, SPQR Deluxe, TDC, and TS. Used to own Iron Tide. DAK2, and East/WestFront are the games that might make their way to my collection.

EDIT: Twilight Struggle is not a wargame. It's a historical baoardgame where points for control are assigned and contested through card play. Maybe the best strategy boardgame ever released but still not a wargame.

I own all of them except the monster games, case blue, Devil's Cauldron and DAK. I prefer games that can be played within an evening or even two.
