Teuber is pronounced TOY BER

You don't have to choose which line you are going to follow when placing new tiles. You can always decide which way to go after you draw a new tile.

Phew, thanks for pointing that out. Saves having to go re-read the rules to see if we've been playing it (and the 2 sequels!) wrong.
