I disagree with Garrett on a few things.

1. Its very hard to "gang up" on people with slanders. Its rarely a good idea to do that.

2. There is no 2 card limit. Garrett made that up. You only draw 2 cards a turn, and once you learn how to play you can fulfill both cards in your hand almost all the time. Drawing more cards per turn would make the game way too easy, you would have way too much money, etc. You can pay to draw cards, too. I would suggest Garrett play the game a couple more times before he decides to add this variant.

3. Then he suggests a brilliant variant which lets you take cards from face up spots instead of face down- guess what, that variant is already in the back of the rulebook! Its a lot better idea than #2 though.

He does a nice podcast though.

EDIT: I can't type.

Glad you like the podcast Tom. Just a couple of points, especially after playing the game again.

1) In a 4-player game, the people with less money are bound to be the players who are Slandered more often, as those WITH money can avoid coughing up an influence chit. This would seem to mean that some WOULD be picked on more.

2) Not sure what you mean by "made that up" as unless you get extra cards through an event, you only have 2 cards in your hand. Not sure how I made anything up.

3) I usually don't read the variants in the rules. Ted Cheatham was kind enough to point out that this was at the end of the rules too. You can read his kind comments that are connected to the podcast listing on my website.

BTW, as I say at the beginning of every show, Garrett is my LAST name.

Take care,

Doug
