Once again the UK Mind Sports Olympiad seems to be having problems with publicity and marketing, which is sad because it's a friendly, enjoyable mind (largely board games) games festival with a loyal following.
The MSO website ( www.msoworld.com) is still being hosted (redirected) elsewhere and at the time of writing that still has only details of last year's event. However the events are relatively unchanging from year to year.
the dates and general location are now on the MSO website.
21st to 31st August 2009 LONDON
There is a link to a further details page but currently (March 7th) everything is marked as coming soon:
Venue ... coming soon ... Program ... coming soon ... Entry form ... coming soon ...
And of course there will be Azacru, Pacru, Shacru world championships again held at MSO.
The word is also that 2010's schedule and venue will be available shortly after this year's MSO.
ALSO Anybody who enters one of the specialist abstract game tournaments, or a traditional abstract game (Chess, Go etc) registers their participation with the MSO at any time before the draw on 22nd August has never been a participant at the MSO or last participated before 2007 will be allocated a raffle number;the numbers will be drawn on the evening of Saturday 22nd August 2009. The lucky recipients of the first 12 numbers drawn at random will receive a free Pacru 302 set which includes 3 complete games! (Azacru, Shacru & Pacru: retail price £20) Winners can pick up their game at the MSO from 22 - 30 August during open hours.
