I thought I heard or read a rumor that there will be a Command & Colors: Napoleonics...and that it will be released in the fall of next year. Is this true?

There was a post copied over from consimworld that GMT said it should be getting on the P500 list this fall I thought. Given that it should be the fastest 0-P500 acceleration ever, that would probably translate to it coming out next year.

My order will take only moments when I see it.  Heck, I'll order two.

If it is true, I'm so there.
I would love to fight the pensular war with this system.
Probably lose horribly to my 10 yr. old son though.

I have serious doubts that the C&C system will fit to napoleonic warfare.
It is more adapted to Ancients battles, with two lines facing one another.
I don't see how Austerlitz could be simulated, for an example.
To be clear, Battle Cry and Memoir 44 really don't reach the level of realism that C&C:A does.

CC:A is command and colors. Larger battles could be done epic style if need be (2 boards).

Deeper boards and the introduction of facing or the selection of formations would be a nice addition...

I think without those one is back to playing an updated Battle Cry.

Regardless we will not know for sure until more details are posted.

All the C&C products released thus far have been very unique and enjoyable... (except for BattleLore in my case...)

I am sure the C&C development team will not dissapoint the fans...

To truly capture Napoleonic battles, they would need to figure out a way to recreate the « march of death » tactics common to this era.
Meaning whole divisions walking in straight lines with the enemy shooting at them as they would advance.

Re: Napoleonics 2010 release?
Hi Steven
You and other C&C fans will not be disappointed. Commands & Colors: Wars of Napoleon will provide players with a unique yet very historical feel and many new and interesting challenges. We have been playing Napoleonics for years and years and years and are still having fun.

I'm really looking forward to this. Let us know when it goes up on P500. We'll help you make this the fastest produced P500 game ever.

Woah... The master has spoken... There is truth behind the murmurings.

Thank you for the reply.

Now the obligatory, "more sir" :D

Any Easter Faberge eggs you could provide?

Estimated release date?
Publisher?
Box Content?
Price?

Nothing like stoking the fires of a rabid bunch of C&C fans.

Since Richard has confirmed, I'll add that I've seen this played a number of times at HMGS-East cons and played a time or two in a multi-commander demo.

It works for Napoleonics.

The card deck is different.

Given the plethora of Napoleonic nationalities, there is most assuredly room for more than one volume in the series. Anglophiles should like the first one, if the demo trend holds true.

I'll predict that this will be the fastest title up-and-over the P500 ever.

Maybe there will even be easier-to-see blocks, I hope.

So the demo you saw used blocks, so we can also infer that GMT will be publishing it(?).

Any others out there have some recon on this?

Richard's group has been playing the different versions of C&C for years. Most likely the demo was with miniatures and not reflective of something that GMT, or DOW, or FFG, or FRED would produce.

I believe GMT already said they had the Nappy version and would put it on the P500 later this year.

If so, I am somewhat disappointe din that. Not that GMT won't do it right, but I really felt of all teh C&C games, Napoleonics needed the miniatures.

Well, it's a matter of finding a company who will support the game, too.

The companies who were willing to do a 'fantasy' or WWII version may be less willing for the mass printing that their style mandates to be cost effective.

Sounds exciting! I'll be real curious to see how it compares to Vive Le Empereur which I think is a version of CCA applied to Napoleonics. Anyone play that one?

The latest The Dice Tower interview is with the President of GMT Games. Tony Curtis announces that C&C The Napoleonic Wars will soon be on the P500.

This is very exciting news to me. It has all the ingredients of being a hit.
Great Game Designer, Fun System, and One of, if not the best game company's putting it all together. I look forward to seeing this one climb the charts.
