Is the version of Yanks available on the MMP website an updated version? IE, does it have starter kit style boards etc?

Nope. And it won't have them until it's reprinted, which won't be for a while, they have large numbers of them left over from when Avalon Hill collapsed.

Only AOO and BV and the upcoming reprint of DB have ASLSK style maps so far. But a somplete set of ASLSK style maps is on preorder.

To expand a bit upon Peter's answer...

MMP has just put up on their pre-order page a collection of all 52 ASL regular maps, plus the 7 ASLSK maps, all produced in the SK style:

ASL Map Bundle (Starter Kit Style)
http://www.multimanpublishing.com/preorder/preorder.php

These maps would ship flat, although they would be scored for easy folding if anyone did want to fold them. Total shipping weight would be around 7 pounds.

This would be a great way to acquire a complete set of unfolded matching maps. (Note that the historical maps and the Deluxe maps are not included.)

This map collection will not actually be produced unless it receives 450 preorders, but it is off to a pretty good start.

If this collection is produced, then all of these maps will also be available for individual sale... if you wanted to wait and then just buy the four you need for Yanks.

However, you can certainly use the boards that come with Yanks with the new SK-style boards: if you stack two SK-style boards together, they will be about the same thickness as an old mounted board.

Ah, that was my question, would it look weird to have a SK style board next to a mounted board. Also, if I want to play with the americans, I'd pretty much HAVE to buy outdated Yanks right? Meh, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it...the rulebook and Beyond Valor should keep me busy for the next few years (decades?)

Are the boards in Yanks pretty much the only difference from any potential reprint?

Because it seems Yanks is pretty much needed before almost all of the other modules (listed as a requirement for most of them). Hehe, this is mostly due to me watching/reading A Bridge too Far and wanting to play the Yanks market garden scenario (s?)...I guess I'll just stick to "88s at Zon" in SK#2 :)

If the module was printed by Avalon Hill (and is not a new edition printed by MMP) then the requirement for Yanks "may" no longer be accurate.

Obviously, you do need Yanks for the Americans. :)

But Yanks was also where the Chapter E rules and counters were originally published, covering such things as night battles, glider landings, boats, etc. It was Chapter E that made Yanks a requirement for so many other modules, even if they did not include Americans. Now, in the MMP editions, the Chapter E rules are included in the 2nd edition ASL rules, and most of the Chapter E counters are in the 3rd edition Beyond Valor. (I'm not sure that all of the Chapter E counters are in the new Beyond Valor: I don't see any gliders listed on the BV3 counter manifests.)

So, for example, if a module included night battles (but no Americans), the Avalon Hill printing will list Yanks as a requirement... but a MMP reprint will (or should) list Beyond Valor instead.

Yes, this is a confusing state of affairs... and no, I don't know of any list of current module requirements. And for anyone using the first edition of the ASL rules and/or a first edition Beyond Valor, Yanks will continue to be a requirement for many of the other modules.

Yes, in a straight reprint there would be new SK-style boards, fewer counters, and no Chapter E rules. However, MMP could chose to add additional items to a reprint, as they did with the 3rd edition of Beyond Valor: additional scenarios, and possibly additional maps from discontinued modules.

But, as was mentioned earlier, it will probably be a long time before we see a reprint of Yanks.

BV3 does not include gliders or boats, so while the ASLRB does include chapter E, Yanks will still be a requirement for many of the scenarios utilizing certain rules therein.
You just get the counters for night and airborne scenarios in BV3.

Re: Does it have SK style boards?
We anticipate adding the scenarios from Paratrooper and possibly some other out of print gems to Yanks the same way we did with For King and Country and Beyond Valor.
