I've never understood why these aren't geeklists.

I think I had actually proposed that several times. I may try out next weeks as one, but I didn't see a huge benefit to it being a GL. Would each person post one entry with the "coolest" game they played over the weekend, they detail the rest of it in there? Would some people just add 25 items with no description.
Personally, I favorite part about WDYPTW? is reading the posts that go into a little detail about it. The "Mini-session reports" if you will.

Chime in your opinions here, and I'll consider what to do.

Well the new to you and most played of the month are both geeklists. You pick 1 game to represent yourself and list all the other information in the entry. The nice thing about this is that it threads any comments people may leave. Either way is fine but I think geeklist might be a better organizational structure. BTW I didn't play anything this weekend, poor me. cry

I see it working well in those instances, the best game, or most played as you would have 1 game and that would be an entry,

I like being able to just throw up what I did for the weekend in any order, in any number, not trying to think up a cute item that best fits what I did.

In all fairness though I cannot say it wont work either

What did you play this weekend? 11.09.09 - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/4181994

I didn't post this one as a Geeklist as promised, so I'll try to remember next week. Memory FAIL.

New WDYPTW? up for 11.16.09. Yet another week where I forgot to try making it a geeklist instead of a forum post. Perhaps my memory will be better next week! Check it out here:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/48598

I also opened it up to RPGs as well as BGs, any issues with that?

My preference would be not but I will go along with the majority. Especially since I have been guilty of mentioning an RPG at least once. whistle

Maybe dueling WDYPTW lists?

Seems to me that the geek list is not doing as well as the the old forum was, 12 to 20 entries vs 3 pages?

I agree. I wanted to give it a second week, just to be sure. It will almost 100% be a forum post next week, unless things pick WAY up.

I agree. Unfortunately I think geeklists sometimes get lost more easily than forum threads, although I don't know why.

I subscribe or I would never find it, I definitely agree they (both) get lost. Most of my sections are set to recent posts, except for the geeklist which is set to HOT

Anyway to tell how many other subscribe? I now know at least 3 of us do

At least 4 subscribe!

I like the geeklist format ~ I wouldn't give up on it right away, might take awhile as people figure out how they want to use it (one item per game played could make the list a lot bigger; one item and additional games might contain the same info but take lots less space, and so on...)

I'm not pro or con for either format, but the geeklist format was my first posting to WDYPTW. Mostly just due to actually playing boardgames instead of RPG's.

Personally I like the Geeklist. I think the individual entries get separated out better and the result is more readable. I only got one game in because of the busy holiday and I haven't gotten around to posting it yet.

A vote for geeklist here. I just posted for the first time; the only reason I knew this thread existed is because it appeared on the front page of RPGGeek. If it was a forum thread instead of a geeklist, it wouldn't have appeared at all.

Well anyway...I played GMT's Blackbeard this weekend. We introduced three new players and played the long game, and that took all of Sunday afternoon into the evening to finish. The General Pardon card to end the game was the very last card in the deck! And Blackbeard was sunk in the Carribean by a KC (not off the Carolinas).
