Well, I simply cannot play outpost. I roam around with them for a bit just trying to avoid being hit but overall I think I have never won a game against a good player using outpost.
Can someone give some general advice for using them?
Something like the DDM strategy guide.
I think that outpost deserve it, beside some people think that Hegemony is the weakest one (I don't agree at all with that, Hegemony are simply awesome.)

My preferred strategy and one I see people failing to use and then getting their asses kicked, is to not get attached to your units. (Insert snickering here) You can spend forever trying to avoid getting hit, or you can place your tiles to attack the HQ. You don't win NH by killing dudes. You win by knocking out your opponents' HQ.

I can't tell you what you're doing wrong because I have not played with you. But try using your tiles to deal damage to the HQ, not protecting yourself.

A simple trick: MOVE!

My opponents tend to throw Movement tiles away and place units instead. With a few units, Outpost can devastate.

If you end up against Borgo, it's even more true. I usually win against Borgo by slashing through their units with my HQ, and placing my other units away from harm (on the side) and ideally, next to my rampaging HQ.

The module permitting double moves is awesome, don't throw it away. And at worst, you'll lose it, but your opponent will have wasted a unit at world's end to destroy it ninja

As my friend, Bigger, would say: MOBILITY

When you manage to build a few combos nearby your HQ and allow your units to deal double (or more than that!) damage, everything will become a bit better for you.

Outpost gets relatively high initiative, 12 dudes, a lot of movement tokens, a lot of dudes that can just move all the time and a lot of battle tokens.

When playing outpost, I expect to spend a lot of time shooting the other player's dudes. As the outpost player, you only have 12 units that can attack while most armies have about 17. So... I start by setting my outpost guys up where they can assassinate the other players dudes while keeping them alive. It's not like they never get killed, but causing your opponent to lose that 5 unit advantage is key.

Outpost has no nets, so I only use melee units against the enemy HQ at the end of the game when I don't care about losing them. Otherwise, I use them to take out enemy units.

As outpost player, you don't want the board to fill up. You want room to move your HQ as well as your other units. I usually start my HQ in the center of the board or if the opponent chooses that space I place it right next to his base. I wait for the enemy to commit some units to attacking my HQ and then I move the base. This is devistating to melee units because now they are wasted.

As the outpost player, I usually use every battle token I get, especially just after I have moved my HQ.

Finally, remember that units with movement don't need to be in optimum position when you place them. Sometimes I will place a unit with movement next to my base to prevent the opponent from placing there. Then when I draw a battle tile, I will move the unit to a more optimum position and then start the battle. Or, when I draw a movement tile, I will move the unit that has built in movement and then move the base into that spot.

Reminder... movement only works well when there aren't a lot of dudes on the board. Use your extra battle tokens to keep it cleared out.

Expect a low scoring game where you win by being less blown up than the opponent. If toward the end of the game you get the chance to rack up hits on the enemy HQ, so much the better. You don't need to blow up his base to win, you just need to damage him more than he's damaging you.

Re: Outpost: HELP US
Take potshots. If you have a unit and a battle tile in your hand, place the unit and battle immediately. Whittle the HQ down as quickly as you can. Remember, the high number of battle tiles means that you can control when you strike more often than any other factions.

Don't be afraid to have your HQ close in on the enemy's HQ. Your HQ's double initiative ability is really strong and should be taken advantage of.

For a long time, I considered Outpost to be the strongest army. It's fun to play! It gives you the touch of humanity fighting against the robots.

You need to play offensively. Thanks to the double attacks, Outpost can do the most damage out of all the armies. You'll never set up a 12 point combo with other armies. Be prepared to take some hits, and trash the opponenet HQ. You have to watch out for netters but if you succeed in this, you're home.
