Just wanted to post my opinion of this game! I'm new to this site, but not new to Titan by any means. I'm 25 now, and was introduced to this game about 10 years ago in my highschool years. My good friend's uncle had given him this gem as a gift and he in turn taught our group of friends how to play. There were four of us, in my opinion a great number of players to ensure things don't drag too slow. We all became addicted and spent many weekends through out our highschool years having crazy marathons. I used to live in Cleveland, Ohio where we were prone to bad winters and snow days. Mix a friday snowday with the weekend and that is when many of these 'marathons' took place.....and we've had many games that lasted well over 30 hrs.

I've played a lot of other strategy/war games but none I feel come close to the fun this game brings with good friends. That may sound cheesy, but it really is a light war game. I'm not saying there isn't a great deal of strategy and tactics in it, because there is...but it is the kind of game you can have side conversations with your friends at the table while the other player makes his move without feeling like you're missing something terribly important.

Anyway, I knew there were other hardcore fans out there, it just took me a while to find them. Unfortunatley, I recently moved out of Cleveland and I'm not sure the next time we'll play. I know one thing, it's just a matter of time before we all get together again and pull this sucker out for another marathon session.

--One last thing. We always used to play this game in the same location, my friend's house who owned the game. I think there was a point in highschool where his mother thought there was something wrong with us. She would walk into the basement and here people saying, "I'll muster one Gorgon." I'm sure she just had no clue what we were playing through all hours of the night, but regardless she was concerned. We noticed this and decided to really freak her out. We played a session in his basement by candlelight wearing nothing but black robes. We had a good laugh and then finally realized it would be impossible to play a complete game like this! Sounds wierd, but the laughs we had were well worth the effort!

keep gaming...

Yeah, I think I've played more of this than any other boardgame. My friends and I still enjoy it, and it gets plenty of use. It's one of the greats. I also started playing when I was 15.

This game is awesome, my brother in law and I finished a ten thousand point tournament this past winter (22 games I think) and we still want to play it. As a matter of fact, we played this last Saturday.

Everyone else who has played it with us likes it but doesn't like the time involved and I keep telling them the more you play the faster games go. Our tournament games averaged about three hours, the longest was five and the shortest being an hour and a half.

:D

A ten thousand point tourny....to me, it sounds like a lot of fun. I just thought of something...I've never played this game with only 2 players. We have always had at least three people playing. I think a huge tourny like you and your brother-in-law played would be awesome with more people. Then you don't always feel like you are 'trying to catch up' or 'building a bigger lead.' The scores may be a lot tighter with four people. Good times regardless!!!

One more thing, what is the strongest you've ever seen a Titan ?

Hmm, that's a good question...21? 22? I vaguely recall a game where someone (I think it was me) rated to kill a Colossus in a blow.
Yeah, the problem is, my marathon games were 18-20 years ago, and I don't remember. I want to say over 30, but I'm probably making that up. Somewhere in the twenties seems more likely. In a two-player game, there can be a lot of room to run around and fight in without grinding your Titan legion up.

LOL...I don't remember the strongest Titan we've had...I'm sure it was over 20 but not sure if we ever reached 30.

I got to 34 one game. I ended up losing to a much smaller Titan and 6 Colossus. It wasn't a very well played game by either of us though. In particular my opponent kept recruiting crap, which is how I got to get so many points. Normally people aren't going to recruit enough for you to score that high over the course of a game.
