(Sorry, didn't know where to post this. Once I get my answer, this will be deleted.)

One of my friends is going to Europe for his vacation. On the last leg of his stint, he'll be in ***Frankfurt*** for 2 days. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of game stores in Frankfurt where it might be possible to hunt down some games...like...Die Macher or Atlantic star...

An address, website of gamestores in Frankfurt would be much appreciated!

As far as I know, "Die Macher" is OOP...he will have no luck finding it in any shop.
For everything else he may want to take a stroll down the Zeil, which is the main shopping lane in Frankfurt. There he will find a few Department stores, which carry quite a few games and also two specialised game-shops:

His best bet is propably "Spiel + Freizeit Behle". Their adress is Grosse Friedberger Strasse 7-11 (this is near the Konstabler Wache right besides a McDonalds-Restaurant).
The other shop is the "Gamestore" in the Zeilgallerie near the Hauptwache.

There is another shop, the "Spectaculum", which is not too far from the Zeil. It is a nice shop, but they mainly carry RPGs and Miniatures, which propably is not, what your friend is looking for. This is their Homepage: http://www.spectaculum-frankfurt.de
For completeness: There is another shop called "Brot und Spiele". I can not say much about them, as I have never been there. You can find their Homepage here: http://www.brotundspiele.org/

Update 2009: Just if someone sumbles upon this thread - all the mentioned shops are out of business. At the moment there is *no* good gamingstore in Frankfurt.

I believe there is a Saturday flea market along the south bank of the river Main - does anyone know if this is a good place to find games?

You can order Die Macher from an online German store, Playme (www.playme.de). They have it for 27 Euros. You can just have it sent to his hotel or wherever he's staying (I think shipping within Germany is about 4 Euro).

Sadly, all of these are closed down now: Zeil shop, Spectaculum, and Brot & Spiele, too.

Re: Frankfurt People???
I wnated to add that, after seven years in Frankfurt and having seen those shops close one by one I have found a shop that still carties a few games: Terminal Entertainment.

It's a comic shop but in their basement, they have a collection of role games in German and in English and a small collection of board games.

It's mainly ameritrash and dungeon crawlers (Arkham Horror, Descent, Runebound). They have stuff in German and in English and they can order what they don't have.

The shop is here:

It's in the city center. Here's their website:

When you get into the shop, go straight downstairs.
