The official site makes this game look like a computer game rather than a board game. What's the deal? Does the board game come with a disc that lets you also play it online? Is there a different version of each?

I did some more poking around. If I do a search for ALL boardgames, I just get LnL:BoH, so this may be their first non-computer game published. If so, I'll be interested in the first reports of the quality. This should be available any day now.

Re: Um...computer game?
The website is misleading. All of the Lock'n'Load games are non-computer (re:board) games.

Really? How comes?
Never read number of boards/counters, when I looked at a computer game.
Looking around - what is missleading?

1.) It is linked to from a site that is about computer games (Matrix; or at least used to be).
2.) Strategy computer games often use "markers" especially the old school ones.
3.) The publisher is a computer game publisher
4.) Most of the "shots" are not pictures but the graphics used to print the game which gives them a "computer" feel.
5.) "Boardgame" is only mentioned in a review on the sidebar.

Need I say more? It should be clearer.

6.) Confusing visual elements that make comprehension difficult (muted scrollbars with non contrasting colors and a menu bar that hides).

7.) Changing the menu context based on games without additional visual clue that a change has occured.

Matrix puts out pretty solid computer based wargames but just like with boardgames, th e new generation prefers games with lot of color rather than mechanics. So they would rather play a totally inaccurate action shooter based on WWII than a painstakingly accurate sim of the battle that is played on a hex based board with sprite like figures.

Lock and Load PC game IS on the way however

"Yep, we have a team in place and programming is well underway. I have a version I'm testing on my computer. We aren't at beta, yet. When we reach that point I'll open it up for beta testers.

With luck it'll be out this year, but I'm not promising a release date.

We are considering offering folks who have bought the boardgame or any expansions/modules released before the computer game's release, a discount on the computer game, but that IS NOT official. There are several problems with that concept including how would we ascertain who has bought the boardgame?

Best,

Mark "
