Just wanted to confirm we played this right: is it possible to blockade a Great General?

An opponent had two of them, giving him +8 in combat; I moved a figure on top of an undefended one. We couldn't find a specific reference saying that the +4 bonus from that general was blockaded.

The rules stated that you can blockade resources and cancel the powers of a Wonder but didn't mention Great People who didn't give non-resource bonuses (ie military strength).

We decided that the bonus was cancelled because forum threads made reference to blockading Barracks, and it would be strange if only the combat bonus couldn't be blockaded.

I believe their power can be nullified by a blockade like all Great People - I'll crack open the rule book to analyze in a bit if need be.

Great people function like buildings, so yes, they can be blockaded.

But attack bonuses can't be gathered by scouts though. (Right? blush)

Hopeful for a future 'kidnapping' ability for spies. They may still be 'combustible', no?

Scout Gathering, p. 26: "...all of the icons in that square (including trade, production, culture, coins, and resources) are then considered to be in that city's outskirts for the rest of the turn."

Two points:
1. Attack bonuses are an icon in the square with a Great General (unless someone wants to debate the meaning of "icon"), and it does say "all icons."
2. Attack bonuses aren't specifically listed as able to be gathered.

Re: Blockading a Great General
The designer already weighed in on this, they can be blockaded but not gathered by enemy scouts.

From Kevin:
Quote:
Military bonuses CAN be blockaded, however, scouts CANNOT steal military bonuses (military bonuses weren't originally icons, and I'm pretty sure that could be game breaking).

Scouts can send home anything they're on top of except wonder abilities and military bonuses (even in another player's outskirts, even on top of a wonder, building, or great person).
