Not a "hot" deal. Lukewarm perhaps, but worthy of note.

London just dropped to $40.42 on Amazon with free shipping. (only 8 in stock)

Current in-stock prices at other OLGS (none with free shipping without larger purchase of course):

MiniatureMarket.com $44.00
Cardhaus Games $39.95
Boards & Bits $44.00

According to CamelCamelCamel it only ever dipped lower than this once pre-holidays to $35.69.

Plenty hot for me - virtually the lowest price + free shipping. Thanks, finally decided it was time to pick this up. Can't wait to try the popular Ben-Luca 2-player variant.

When I ordered it from B&B late last year it shipped for free. Many places ship Mayfair games for free, including B&B. (I have no idea why.)

This isn't to say that posting it for less with Prime on Amazon was a bad idea; I love getting decent deals through Amazon, and this is definitely a decent deal. I just wanted to note that London won't necessarily follow the normal you-must-pay-shipping pattern at OLGSs.

As I understand it: That's because Mayfair makes everyone that sells their games sign a contract saying they can't sell the game below 80% retail price (20% off). Giving free shipping makes the game cheaper to the customer while still abiding by Mayfair's guidelines.

That would definitely explain why their game prices tend to be far more static across vendors than most others.

It also leads one to wonder how Amazon and CardHaus are selling it for less.

The other nice thing about this is the games sell at FLGS for around same price. I was able to pick up A Few Acres of Snow and London both for ~$40 each.

price fixing is a nice thing? just means everyone pays more ... London at $40 imho is not a deal at all because it's so overpriced to begin with, a decent game but it's really just a card game

When the price fixing is designed to allow FLGS's to be competitive with online retailers, then YES!

If there's any pattern at all to be discerned, it could be attributable to those stores' having contractual terms with Mayfair Games and whether those stores were among the first to embrace Mayfair Games' price-fixing scheme. Those stores among the first to embrace Mayfair Games' price-fixing scheme apparently got some trade-off perks and priviledges for becoming early adopters.

And for that reason also, the price-fixing scheme ensured Mayfair Games' prices became not only static but uniform among most, if not all, game stores. (Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com probably negotiated something more flexible and exclusive along the lines of Barnes & Noble, which has carried some exclusive Mayfair game products before.)
