I wanted to create a separate thread to announce our plans to create a board game based on our series "Deeds of Yore". We'd love to collaborate with some industry professionals and maybe some passionate amateurs to create a unique and light gaming experience for all to enjoy.

If you are interested, please post any questions or comments that you have here. And if you just want to speak about the series, we can also address that here or in the "Father Geek" thread.

If you have not checked out the series, please visit:

www.deedsofyore.com

"Deeds of Yore" is a web series/feature film about a young man in 1987 who gets sucked into a Commodore 64 RPG...

Naturally, we also have plans to create iPhone games, Flash Apps, etc, but this is after all a board game forum.

Thanks!

Well, I'll take this opportunity to introduce the game concept I had and maybe you can chime in with your facilities...

Basically, "Deeds of Yore" is a story about a young man who learns to appreciate the many characters in the world of Yore, rather than the achievements to be had.

So, I envisioned a roll-and-move slash deck-building game where you travel around the world of Yore collecting cards. The goal of the game is to collect as many "Character Cards" as possible before someone reaches the end of the track. When someone does reach the end of the journey, all players count the number of "Yore Points" they have indicated on their collected Character Cards to see who won.

Of course there will be other cards in addition to the Character Cards and each will have a function in the game. So you collect cards and then use them on each turn, like Dominion.

The main strategy in the game is trying to decide whether you will try to end the game quickly before anyone else can collect more points than you, or try to delay it so you can collect more.

I wanted to combine familiar game mechanics with more modern ones to attract both new and veteran players to the game. I enjoyed creating this concept, but when it comes to detail oriented things, I like to include others to use their imaginations.

Your best bet might be to post in the board game design forum, rather than in the forums for this podcast

Re: "Deeds of Yore" Board Game
Ah, cool. I kind of wanted to "keep it in the family", since On Board Games helped us. I'd like to collaborate with them or someone associated with them. But, I will definitely post there if it comes closer to production time and we've not found anyone.
