Food talk thread?

Hey Austrians: You win.

Quote:
The McRibster Is a Deep-Fried McRib From Austria

Oh hello, here is a sandwich called the McRibster, which is basically a breaded and fried McRib. Sure, let's repeat that: this is a deep-fried McRib. This monster of a novelty sandwich is launching at McDonald's all across Austria today, and consists of "juicy pork, bacon, pepper-Jack cheese, and crunchy iceberg lettuce, red onion, delicious honey-mustard sauce and spicy sweet chili sauce." So, correction: that is a deep-fried McRib with bacon on it. And also cheese. The McRibster is available until March 27.

When I quickly scanned this I read "Australian". Somehow that seemed more likely than Austria, but I'm not sure why.

Oh, great. I begin a diet and you folks cook this up. That said, this is a splendid idea!

Last october I went to Paris and one of the most delightful gastronomic experiences was at the tea house Mariage Frére. This tea house has an exceptional variety of teas (loved a jasmin tea called "Jade Monkey King" - IIRC) but the true star was a fabulous dessert called Splendeur du Tibet (a creme brulée infused with Marco Polo red tea).

The strawberry and green tea (?) macarons which appear at the top of the pic were nothing compared to this dessert.

Note: For those interested, please note there are several Mariage Frére located on Paris but the only one I tasted this dessert was at address: rue du Bourg-Tibourg (30?), Paris 4e . I once went to a tea house located near the Louvre and left disappointed because there were no Splendeur there...

If you're doing your own cooking, you could share some of your diet adventures with us. Sometimes the best food can come forth when there are limitations in place.

Unfortunately, that's not the case. At least it is not a diet of misery and suffering

Now I want some thin crust pizza. Which has nothing to do with any of the food mentioned before this, I know.

I don't have a picture, but I just made a pesto pizza with grilled chicken, kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, and red ripe tomatoes at work, which I promptly ate two slices of.

I just want to say, God, on behalf of all of us thank you for all of the good things we do in your name, like charity and forgiveness. That’s an idea we would never come up with. That’s for sure. You know that better than anybody.

Looks like a poor man's schnitzel sandwich. If you're in Austria, surely the real thing is better than taking your chances with whatever McDonald's makes their McRib meat from.

I dunno. I love bacon and all, but given the choice, I'd probably try to avoid the bacon shown on THIS page.
