I came across this, and thought it might help with the no scrolling issue.

I may be going crazy, but I just tested the "newstyle" checkboxes and I distinctly recall using this feature long ago. I guess my memory failed me since I rarely participate in math trades these days.

Thanks and that is exactly what I was looking for. Maybe someday this option can be maintained in a cookie.

I'm actually hoping to maintain it in the users profile so it follows you regardless of computer or browser, but profile edit page is still a "to do" bullet

Been exploring more features of OLWLG as I got involved in my first maths trade this month. Such a powerful system, but no amount of guides can explain some of the UI used - I can imagine it's impossibly hard to use for many.

Jeff - if you're not open to open source as I previously suggested, I'd love to open up a dialogue with you about working together or collaborating with the community on a more streamlined, self-explanatory math trade experience, with OLWLG being the center of the whole process.

Although it barely touches the depth of the system, I've put together a quick mockup of the sort of interface I'm thinking - oriented around guiding the user through the whole experience.

Not sure if anyone else running an active math trade is seeing an issue, but - since BGG came back online, my attempts to resync have failed. Hopefully just a temporary issue, but there have been API issues in the past, so (with a deadline for adding games in just two days) I'm concerned.

Update: the error is:

Internal Error: Connection reset by peer
fetching geeklist

Less worrisome, but still an issue for the moment.

I'm guessing the current slowdowns are to blame, especially if your geeklist has lots of items.

Definitely. I just managed to get a successful sync, so there are in fact no issues with the system.

I can't resynch my collection. BGG is behaving very well today, so I can't blame that.

Using Firefox 11.0, I get:

Fetching sos1 ... 11.88 Internal Error:
Calling Twig::parseurl(http://www.boardgamegeek.com/xmlapi/collection/sos1?all=1&br...)

i wouldn't say "very well"... for instance it just took 20 seconds for bgg to respond to my reply/quote to write this...

try clicking on the link in the url given in the error message... I clicked on it and I waited 3 minutes, went to run an errand and when I got back my browser reported the error "Connection closed by remote server"... your collection data is huge and given the slowness it looks like bgg is timing out the xml request before it's done collecting the data

Please note... anything you have marked "for trade" on RPG Geek and isn't shown on your boardgame collection data will not show up in your "collection" as far as the OLWLG is concerned
How would I get a something marked as "For Trade" in my RPGG collection to show up in my BGG collection? I can change the filters so it shows up on the screen, but OLWLG still doesn't see it when I resync. Even if I try to use "Add A Game" from the BGG collection screen, the RPG item is sent over to my RPGG collection instead. =/

I would love it if the magnifying glass ("Look for...") feature had the ability to exclude items that are already added as wants. It's a pain to have to scan the list (repeatedly), skipping over all the green checkmarks.

I can't think of why the already-added items should *ever* appear in that list, but if there is a reason they should sometimes, an option to exclude them would be fantastic.

Apologies if this has been suggested before. I don't remember seeing it, and don't have the patience to manually search 30+ pages of comments in this thread. Would it make sense to set up a public bug/feature-tracking system somewhere?

It seems to me everyone has their own way of using the OLWLG and can't imagine anyone else using it differently. For example, I can't imagine why you'd ever scan repeatedly over the part of the list where you've already checked off things. How many times do you go through the full list? I only do it once.

Regarding your question, off the top of my head, if you change your mind regarding which of your items you want to trade for that item, (or if you mistakenly hit save too soon and need to add more checkboxes) you could click on the checkmark and reopen the window. Also, when I do part of my wants on one PC and then finish them on another, I use the last green check as a reminder of approximately where I left off.

Hi Kevin and Ron

I agree with Kevin since the "shopping cart" icon gets you to the view of all items you've "added" so there is already a way to do a step 3 style editing of wants

It was only a one line change however so if there is a reason to revert back it will be easy if anyone brings up a reason why.

edit: thinking about it I should probably apply this filter to the "view all gift certs" and "view all geek gold offers" views... any objections?

Actually, it appears I completely misread Kevin's post by missing the fact that he was talking about the Magnifying glass icon list, not the full step 3 list. I never use the magnifying glass, so disregard my comment. never mind, carry on...

There's an odd thing happening, both in Chrome and the latest Firefox.

In the Worldwide Promos & Accessories Math Trade, Part II, there are currently 190 entries updated. But once I've seen them all, going back in shows me #185 as the sole entry. Usually, this would be #190. Clicking to expand to all items, it indeed shows me all 190.

I'm just curious why it thinks #185 is the last item in the list at first.

for some reason the time stamp on that item is later than the time stamps on 186 to 190 (see either geeklist or mouse over the >> icon within step 3)... could have the geeklist owner edited the geeklist and moved the item?

the olwlg keeps track of what you've seen with a cookie with the timestamp of the newest item it's last shown you so that's why it's 185 and not 190, at least until you organizer resyncs

I don't expect this to be a very original idea, so pardon me if it had been requested before in this thread.

Part #1) We already have the ability to supply a rank/value for the entries you are adding as your wants. Could the same rank/value text box be made available for the items you are offering. At bare minimum, the sort would make checking large lists a teeny bit easier.

Part #2) In conjunction with #1, create a button or link that would autocheck boxes where your want values are greater than or equal to the offer value. I can't even begin to tell you how much time this would save someone who works with larger lists... like me.

I am still having resync problems. I have been trying for days:

Fetching grandslam ... 10.1 Internal Error:

Why I try the link in the error message, I get:

argh, sorry, been running around with my head cut off since Sunday afternoon, just saw you said resync problems and stopped reading there

in any case it looks like BGG problems, I tried the link and it said unexpected end of file at some like line 9,900, then tried again and simply got after a wait 500 connection reset by peer. I've also noticed last couple days that BGG has been slow, something must be up
