I think it's a great idea. It definitively will help grow the hobby, especially since Wil Wheaton has recently become popular again via Big Bang Theory. I can see a lot of people enjoying it. However, personally I would rather being playing a game, than watching others play for a half hour.

I'm still digging the new review format. Also enjoyed the discussion about nuts.

I certainly agree, but there is at least a half hour each week when I can't sit down with people and play a game but I can click "play" and watch game related content.

I have not played, but it sounds fun. It also sounds like Fresco and Modern Art. I have not played any of these games and I think I may just be grouping them together because of the art theme. From your review it also sounds like a great game to end a lesson on art history with in the classroom.

Fantastic interview, sound quality was ok.

I'm not much into the Tabletop show, in general I don't watch videos, I like to drool over pictures on the geek as any other BGGer, but I don't have the time or the patience to watch someone 30 minutes playing a game. Sometime I watch a video review, but I like more the podcast format, it lets me listen about a game or topic, while I'm cooking or driving or doing other stuff.

"And that's when the forum thread took a strange turn", is what the history books will say.

Re: OBG 79: To the TableTop
Haven't gotten to this episode yet (still basking in the awesome of the two Erics and Don), but I love TableTop. In contrast to some of the posts here, I look _forward_ to seeing a half-hour digest of a game played by witty people I "know". Sure I'd rather be playing the game instead of watching it in general, but (a) there's a lot more opportunities in my life for watching a half-hour segment than playing a game. And (b) I'm never going to play with those players, who are fun to watch. (I'm strongly reminded of Celebrity Poker Showdown here: it's not really an either-or proposition; I like to play poker, and separately I like to watch entertaining people play poker.)

Where I think it'll get interesting is when they play a game I haven't seen yet. Then it'll really show whether the clever animated bits are as good at explaining the game as they look.

The other question is whether Wil Wheaton really is as evil as he plays in the Guild and Big Bang Theory, and this is all a ploy to crush poor Rich Sommer and his goodhearted attempt to spread boardgame goodness across the land.
