I've actually built an arcade cabinet in my house. It plays all the games from the 80s and 90s.

I also have Dragons Lair and Space Ace fully playable on them. I've finally beat the dragon but it took a long time to pull it off.

GOOD GRIEF!

Do you have the plans for your cabinet that you would be willing to share? I would LOVE To build my own!

Just finished reading "Ready Player One" for the third time and am now all kinds of nostalgic for the 80's and 90's.

Are you talking about a cabinet with a PC running MAME?

I do have plans for it actually, I'll either send them to you or post them.

It is a cabinet running a PC with MAME. It also runs Daphne for the laser disc games.

When I designed the cabinet, the plan was to do it with 2 sheets of plywood (most designed require 3) and it had to blend with the rest of our living room (wife requirement).

It was a fun project and not difficult but it was time consuming.

I've uploaded my plans to my website. You can pull them from www.erikdewey.com/videogame.pdf and www.erikdewey.com/videogamev2.pdf.

The difference is that I needed to extend the width 1" so that's the main difference between the two. Also I opted not to install shelf J, it just wasn't necessary.

I glued and screwed 1x3s to give the plywood something to screw and glue against. The first PDF also shows the control panel I built. It doesn't show the tracball that is between the two joysticks. It also doubles as a mouse.

The only problem I had with the cabinet was that it's foot print was too narrow for my comfort (didn't want the kids to be playing hard and it tumble over). I bought two dining room table legs from Lowe's and attached them to the bottom diagonal piece (I can post pictures if needed).

Re: OBG 80: Is That the End?
Looking at my collection, I have to say that one of the best endings actually come from one of my most notable games: Catan. That race for the 10th victory point creates a lot of building suspense. And with so many point swing options, like the longest road and largest army, you're never quite sure what can happen.
