First Risk Legacy (Evolution) session

Madita Kruse
Germany

mbmbmb
We played Risk Legacy (German Version: Risk Evolution) last year at the 16.December 2011.
Here are some impressions of the session.

This is the Game unboxed for the first time. Awesome.

The factions are really good. I like the idea that they are all different.

The first writing on the board. I had to get used to it.

One of the factions: Imperial Balkania.

The beginning...

First everyone claimed a territory. Then it was time for battle...

The ressource cards.

The invasion of the red! I felt so sorry for the poor little purple one all alone...

Now red and green pushing grey back... the left side of the board battles on their own.

And at this point red could win the game and claim the grey headquarter... but he decided to wait... what a mistake.

Now with exchanging cards and special ability the huge grey army starts its triumphal march ...

.. over to the purple Imperial Balkania headquarter for the next point... then on to the next one... nothing can stop the grey army.

And the final battle at the headquater of Saharan Republic... the grey Khan Industries wins!

The winner sticks his city...

...and signs the board.

It was an interesting first session of Risk Legacy. Thanks to everyone who played with us.
Maybe I will take the time to write a lot more and make a session report out of it.

And because of the spirit of today: Stop SOPA and PIPA. Protest!

The Christmas games 2011

New this Christmas: Quarriors, Pastiche, Clue, Risk Legacy

We played a 2 player session of Quarriors and it was as awesome as I imagined. First I was not so happy with the fact, that I had to read every card, to choose the right one for my needs. I was a little tired that day This is not a game you can play, when you are really tired.
Right at the beginning I had luck. It brought me the Defender of the Pale. This nice fellow gives extra points for other dices that score at the same turn. So I got off to an early lead. And I won. laugh
It's basically a deck building games with dice, and I like the idea. But eventually the dice can be little bastards and ruin your game, when you have bad luck. This is not so nice.
Because each set of dice can be assigned into several cards, I think it has a high replay value.
And I like the artwork. It's colorful, a bit cartoon style and well drawn.

Pastiche. We played this game at New Years Eve with 4 Players.
First there was a lot to think about and everyone had problems to choose the right tactic.
I went for the paintings with a lot of points and got my first 15 points really quick. Then I got stuck a little.
One of my friends went for the ones with fewer points. For the first session this was a good idea. In the end she was first with the 35 points and ended the game. Luckily she got one additional point from her cards, because with my additional points I got 35 as well.
She won. With one point ahead. angry

Well, Clue. Not played it again yet. I played it as a child.

And Risk Legacy. We played it some days before Christmas and took some photos. I will upload them tomorrow.

introduction post

Madita Kruse
Germany

mbmbmb
Hello and Welcome, my name is Madita (yes, like the book from Astrid Lindgren.. yes, I'm female) aka The Tiny Ninja and you are reading my blog "The Tiny Ninja plays...".

my short story:
I loved boardgames when I was younger, we had a lot of games for children and most of them I called "boring". I had a problem with the "roll the dice and see if you have luck" thing, when theres no chance in the game to do something about bad luck, and the most stupid person wins. Later I thought about them as "roll dice- see if luck or fu**", or for short "luck'or'fu**"games. I guess that was the reason my grandpa introduced me to chess. I loved it.
When I was about 12 years old, I started to love Card Games. That was a bad thing because of my strong urge to collect stuff. My mother had a hard time to keep me from buying things just because they contained cards. From that period: Elements and Loopino. I still own them. And I drew some own boardgames in this time, but only a few of them are actually playable without rage and hate.
Then I got my PlayStation and my first PC, and a new era began. I totally forgot about boardgames until "Settlers of Catan". Family and friends played it all the time and it got me back to the gaming table.

other interests:
video games, science, books, sitcoms, comics, drawing, playing guitar

I will post about every gaming session and every new game I get.
I will post my opinion and the opinion of friends I played with.
And sometimes there will be some words about video games, hope you don't mind.
