I decided to make some terrain for sci-fi settings. I chose a gray for moons/asteroids/planets. Of course it could be post apocalyptic too. The light varies in the pictures so the main color might vary between pictures.
Here I am painting the back of a table cloth with house paint. The table cloth is 8.5' x 5' and is the kind that is vinyl on the top side, soft fuzz on the bottom side. You paint the soft side. It takes a lot of paint. I painted it in the driveway while using drop cloths to protect the payment.
You want unevenness in the painting. I randomly threw in some lighter grays.
Here it is done. I sprayed some random areas with black spray paint.
Next I worked on some rocks.
Cutting pieces off of a sheet of Styrofoam to make random shapes.
I cut several grooves and indentions into the pieces.
Next is painting.
I used the same house paint gray for the main color. First some black into the recessed areas.
Then paint with the main color gray while the black is still wet and do some blending.
Then blend in a lighter gray.
Then dry brush.
All done.
Here is a couple pictures from the first game using it. The game is Tomorrow's War (second edition).

The Thursday miniatures group has been playtesting a space opera miniatures game. The rules are based on the Goalsystem system and by the same author, Scott Pyle. You could do skirmish games in universes like Star Frontiers, Star Wars, Star Trek and so on.
As most of the miniatures rules we use, they are generic and can use about any figs you might already have. A lot of the figs used in our playtesting are older Games Workshop Ltd.. Most of the terrain pieces in the pics are custom built.
BTW, Glip, whom in the pictures was about to hit the latrine, had to do some ass-kicking after being interrupted doing his business.

I recently played a 3 player game of Conflict of Heroes: Price of Honour - Poland 1939. The scenario was Firefight 11: Race for Lwow.
What is unique about this scenario over the other multiplayer scenarios in Conflict of Heroes is that each player has their own objectives and can/will fight both of the other players.
The Russians have control of the 5 hills next to a city and the the Germans and Poles are to take them. The Russians are accumulating victory points for every hill they control at the end of the turn, they also get points for eliminating enemy units. So that means the German and Polish players cannot waste a bunch of time, else the Russian will have lots or points from the hills. The German players gets points from capturing hills and eliminating enemy units. The Polish player can only win of he has 3 hills at the end of 5 turns.
Our game started with the Germans moving towards the 3 hills directly in front of him. The Poles went towards the 2 hill directly in from of him. The Germans started off with a slow advance with the left flank getting bogged down in the marsh. The Russian waited and took shots when appropriate. In turn 2 the Russians started taking a beating against both sides, losing most of the original troops in the Polish sector. The Russian reinforcements were definitely needed.
Unfortunately we had to stop playing before the end of the game as (real) time was running out. It looked like the Poles would take 2 hills but would be defending them from the Russians while trying to take his 3rd hill (at the marsh) from the Germans. Germans would gain 3 hills quickly enough, but would have to deal with the Russian reinforcements in the process.
I would give this scenario another try. I like that one of the sides can win just by having the objectives at the end of the game. This makes other two, whom were busy with each other and might have a bunch of victory points, pay attention to the third one if he has his objectives.

I started painting my first The Uncharted Seas fleet a few weeks ago. I decided to start with the Shroud Mages.
Here I started painting 2 prototypes to see if I liked the colors I wanted.
I liked how the prototypes turned out and I only changed one color. I commenced to painting the rest.
Here I am drilling out the smoke stacks.
The sub is nearing completion.
Here are some of the ships and the sub practically done.

My first Blog post will be wargame boardgame played with miniatures.
The usual miniatures gaming group decided to play Commands & Colors: Napoleonics (CC:N ) with miniatures. One of the members (Ken) already had a bunch of 15mm Napoleonics figs ready to go. The host (Jaye) has a 6x8 foot gaming table with hexes already on the green table top. Ken choose scenario #3 from the CC:N scenarios booklet.
Here is a picture of the scenario right after setting it up. French on left.
We had 7 people, 6 players with Ken "running" the game. Each side had a commander, whom was in the center section. The commander holds the cards and chooses which one to play. The sub-commanders would then choose what to do if their section received any activations.
The French pressed on the right flank and then on left. The center turned out to be a shooting gallery for the British. The town of Ventosa (left section) fell to the French and eventually half of Vimiero (right section) was occupied by the French. The final blow came from a Bombardment (card) that blast some infantry. The game ended with a French 6 to 4 victory.
